NBA Opening Night wraps up with a Western Conference Finals rematch as the Thunder visit the Spurs. My Thunder vs. Spurs prediction backs San Antonio to cover as a 2.5-point home favorite.

Tipoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC from Frost Bank Center, with the total sitting at 231.5.

For more opening-night betting angles, check out our NBA picks for Tuesday, Oct. 20.

 TOP PICK
Thunder vs Spurs prediction: Spurs -2.5

Ultimately, I'd invest in the San Antonio Spurs up to -3.5 at home over any team in the NBA.

San Antonio is my preseason pick in the NBA championship odds, led by the best basketball player I've ever seen, Victor Wembanyama, plus two All-NBA-caliber young guards in Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle.

The Spurs were 8-4 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder with a +7.6 spread differential last regular season and in the playoffs.

San Antonio also went 4-1 SU and ATS against OKC in the regular season and NBA Cup despite Wembanyama starting only twice and averaging 25.1 minutes across those five games. Now Wemby should be fully unleashed.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Spurs beat the Thunder in 3-pointers, free-throw attempts, and rebounds per game in their 12 meetings last season.

Thunder vs Spurs combo

San Antonio’s moneyline gives me a little more margin for error while keeping the combo centered on how I think this game plays out.

Oklahoma City should still generate quality half-court offense through Isaiah Hartenstein, whose passing can punish San Antonio when it sends extra attention toward the Thunder’s primary scorers.

On the other end, Spurs PG De’Aaron Fox doesn’t need to dominate the ball to make an impact. With San Antonio's young playmakers creating advantages, Fox can slide into space and capitalize from outside.

If both offenses lean into those roles, Hartenstein and Fox can deliver their pieces without preventing San Antonio from finishing the night with a win.

Thunder vs Spurs combo

  • San Antonio's moneyline
  • Isaiah Hartenstein 3+ assists
  • De'Aaron Fox 2+ threes

Thunder vs Spurs player props

Thunder player prop: Isaiah Hartenstein 3+ Assists

In the 2026 Western Conference Finals, Hartenstein had the second-highest assist rate on the team (minimum of 15 minutes played). Hartenstein dished out 3+ assists in five of the seven games in the conference finals.

According to CleaningTheGlass.com, he is in the 90th percentile of bigs in assist rate last season. Plus, since Shai Gilgeous-Alexander isn't a traditional floor general point guard, Oklahoma City runs a lot of offense through Hartenstein out of the high post.

I'd play Hartenstein's 3+ assists prop up to 55%.

Spurs player prop: De'Aaron Fox 2+ threes

I'm willing to trade Fox's made threes prop up to 51%. Fox hit at least two 3-pointers in 39 of 72 regular-season games in 2025-26, and Harper joining San Antonio's starting five should create even cleaner looks.

Harper, Wembanyama, and Castle all demand defensive attention, so Fox shouldn't be the main focus of OKC's coverage.

Fox can operate more as a catch-and-shoot threat instead of carrying as much of the creation burden. With Harper and Castle initiating more offense, Fox should get more opportunities to attack a scrambling defense from behind the arc.
