The NBA Summer League is winding down this weekend, with only one full day of action remaining before Sunday’s finals. That makes today’s slate our last chance to dig into a full slate of Summer League action.

I’m looking at the marquee matchup between the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings, while also targeting the Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers.

Let’s take a closer look at my best NBA Summer League bets with my free NBA picks for Saturday, July 19.

NBA Summer League best bets for July 19

NBA Summer League predictions

Raptors -3 (-110 at DraftKings)

The Toronto Raptors come into Saturday’s matchup not only having gone undefeated with a perfect 4-0 record, but also holding the summer league’s best point differential at +15.8. Toronto has been among the best defensive teams in the league, allowing just 81.0 ppg.

Today, they get a real test in the league semifinals against the Sacramento Kings, who are also 4-0 with their own impressive +11.5 point differential. The Kings have had outstanding performances from rookie Nique Clifford, who has averaged 18.5 ppg for Sacramento this summer.

But Toronto’s stifling defense will be the difference here. The Raptors should continue to dominate their summer league competition tonight, covering the modest 3-point spread.

Timberwolves -2 (-110 at BetMGM)

Speaking of teams that are on a tear this summer, the Minnesota Timberwolves are also out to a 4-0 start, even if they missed out on the playoffs due to tiebreakers. In theory, they should have an easy path to going undefeated, as they take on the winless Houston Rockets today.

The Rockets have been in the running for the worst summer league team, going 0-4 and allowing 101.5 ppg. Sure, they might not face the best version of Minnesota’s summer roster – Terrence Shannon Jr. (22.7 ppg) has already sat once this summer, and there’s nothing to play for today – but the Timberwolves are still bringing a far more talented team to the floor than Houston.

All that has me questioning why we can get Minnesota giving only two points at some books today. The Timberwolves should have no problem winning this one, and I’m happy to give two points to get them on the spread.

Trail Blazers -3 (-110 at DraftKings)

Tonight’s nightcap sees the Portland Trail Blazers battle the Phoenix Suns. Portland has been largely dominant during its NBA Summer League run, as it has posted a +12.0 point differential, marred only by a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies last weekend.

Phoenix has gone just 1-3 so far in Las Vegas, despite the strong play of second-year player Ryan Dunn, who is averaging 17.5 ppg. Meanwhile, the Blazers have been pleasantly surprised by rookie center Yang Hansen, as the Chinese international has averaged 10 points and four assists in Summer League play.

Outside of that one loss, Portland has been blowing teams out, while the Suns have been using the summer as a learning and growth experience for its young roster. I’m taking the Trail Blazers to cover.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
