Washington has undergone a dramatic, sorely-needed makeover, yet my Raptors vs. Wizards prediction is still siding with the visitors from the North to cover, coming off one of the most dominant performances in a season opener in league history.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena, with Washington listed as a 7.5-point underdog in its own backyard.
Let's dive into my analysis and NBA picks for this Eastern Conference matchup on Friday, Oct. 23.
TOP PICK
Raptors vs Wizards prediction: Raptors -7.5
The Toronto Raptors’ 13-4 record straight up (11-5-1 against the spread) versus the Washington Wizards across their last 17 meetings since 2021 already suggests that Friday’s next encounter will likely go in the favor of the away side.
Keep in mind, however, that none of those games featured the likes of superstars Anthony Davis and Trae Young, although No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa will sit his second consecutive game with an ankle injury.
Nonetheless, Toronto’s commanding defensive pressure should be enough to eke out a cover at -7.5 points on the road, which is a number I'd take up to -9.5. It just held the Chicago Bulls, albeit a depleted and gastrointestinal illness-ridden Bulls, to 92 points en route to a 43-point blowout on Wednesday.
Washington, meanwhile, handled its business with a 12-point win over the Milwaukee Bucks, but it did allow 116 points to an opponent projected to hover around 25 victories.
The vibes are strong for the Wizards after winning their first game of a season since 2022, but the Raptors are a cold dose of reality ready to rain on their parade. Length, defensive versatility, and a more diverse offensive attack will be too much for a Washington team that won consecutive games only five times a year ago.

Raptors vs Wizards combo
Rolling with Toronto to cover as noticeable favourites makes tossing in a moneyline leg for a parlay wager a no-brainer. The Raptors went 5-2 SU in 2025-26 when entering as a favorite of at least 7.5 points on the road, and that was without the services of their former 2019 Finals Most Valuable Player.
If the visitors' defense can muster up a similar effort to that of the season opener, with possessions being kept to a minimum and shots being contested left and right, then that alone should hold the final score here to a more conservative number.
Kawhi Leonard admitted after Wednesday's win that he's still trying to get himself back into game shape. A 23-point effort would indicate he was fine, but his 5-of-17 efficiency would suggest otherwise. Give me the Under on his scoring to pair nicely with the aforementioned total prop.

Raptors vs Wizards player props
Raptors player prop: Immanuel Quickley Over 16.5 points
Feel free to call Immanuel Quickley "Argus Filch," because history proves that the 27-year-old floor general despises Wizards.
Quickley averaged 23 points on 57.9% shooting and 52.9% from behind the arc across three outings last season versus Washington, which was his strongest scoring contribution against any one team he competed against at least three times.
In fact, the 20.1 points Quickley is averaging in 16 games against the Wizards for his career is his second-highest number overall, bested only by the 21.5 points he's produced against the Houston Rockets.
Perhaps most importantly, of the last eight instances Quickley has seen Washington, he's dropped at least 17 points seven times, which would notch him an Over for this prop on Friday.
Wizards player prop: Anthony Davis Over 11.5 rebounds
As assertive as Toronto was nearly across the board against the Bulls, the one area it didn't have an obvious advantage in was on the glass, losing that battle 57-51.
After being showered with "MVP" chants in his Wizards debut, the 10-time All-Star Davis is poised to leave yet another favorable impression on his new followers, especially when it comes to rebounding the basketball.
Davis grabbed 12 in 34 minutes against Milwaukee on Wednesday. In recent looks at the Raptors, the near 7-footer has brought in double-digit boards five of the last six times.
He'll need at least 12 to register an Over on Friday, with the key ingredient that should put him over the top being a lack of contention from Toronto's frontcourt. Davis is at least two inches taller than both Scottie Barnes and Kawhi Leonard, and center Jakob Poeltl is coming off his worst per-36 rebounding numbers since his sophomore year.
