The 2025-25 NBA season tips off on October 21 with a juicy two-game slate.

The defending champions, Oklahoma City Thunder, raise their banner against the new-look Houston Rockets, while LeBron James suits up for his 23rd season against fellow HOF-bound Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Even if the NBA odds are in a holding pattern, it doesn't mean we can't start getting excited about the upcoming season.

NBA Opening Night Schedule

Rockets Houston Rockets at Thunder Oklahoma City Thunder

Team Spread Moneyline Total

Rockets Rockets

+6.5 (-110) +215 Over 225.5 (-110)

Thunder Thunder

-6.5 (-110) -255 Under 225.5 (-110)

Odds via FanDuel on 8-8-25.

Not sure what the bigger story is — the Houston Rockets debuting their new-look roster with Kevin Durant, or the Oklahoma City Thunder raising their championship banner and eyeing a repeat? You’re not alone.

The NBA is setting the tone early with two legitimate title contenders squaring off on opening night. Durant gives Houston the go-to scorer they’ve been missing, while OKC’s championship core is intact, one year wiser, and just as dangerous.

Early guess? Don’t be surprised if the line opens around Thunder -5.5.

Warriors Golden State Warriors at Lakers Los Angeles Lakers

Team Spread Moneyline Total

Warriors Warriors

+3.5 (-110) +140 Over 224.5 (-110)

Lakers Lakers

-3.5 (-110) -166 Under 224.5 (-110)

Odds via FanDuel on 8-8-25.

Whether it is or isn't his last season, LeBron James has given everything to the game of basketball and deserves to be applauded.

Okay, that's enough of that.

The Los Angeles Lakers are now Luka Doncic's team, and from what has come out in the offseason, Doncic is ready to put up some massive numbers.

Against a veteran Golden State Warriors side, the Lakers should have enough in the tank to pick up the win on opening night.

Even if Steph Curry decides to roll back the clock and go off from beyond the arc.
