The Boston Celtics visit the Philadelphia 76ers in an Atlantic Division rivalry that couldn’t be more evenly matched. The two teams have met twice already in the season’s first three weeks, and they put up the same number of points.
The Sixers won the season opener in Boston by one point. The Celtics matched that, winning by one in Philly. The Veteran’s Day matchup will be the rubber game for four months before the two meet again in March.

Celtics vs 76ers best bet: 76ers -1.5 (-110)
The Philadelphia 76ers aren't picky. They’ve been playing everyone close this year. Eight of their 10 games on the season qualify as clutch, meaning a 5-point margin or closer in the final five minutes.
While the teams have similar records, and the Boston Celtics appear to be hotter in recent days, the schedule is doing a lot of the lifting. The Sixers are 5-1 against teams that currently have a losing record, with Boston scoring the only victory over Philadelphia, and 1-3 against teams .500 or better. Their three losses in the last four were to Chicago, Cleveland, and Detroit, which are a combined 22-10.
The Celtics, meanwhile, are 2-4 against winning teams and 3-2 against sub-.500 teams. Their last three have been against Washington and a pair against Orlando, for a combined opponents record of 11-22.
Other than major injuries that have kept key players out all year — Jayson Tatum for Boston and Paul George for Philadelphia — the teams are relatively healthy. Slumping players could be the bigger concern on both sides.
Jared McCain just returned to the lineup after thumb surgery kept him out for the start of the season. He's still trying to find the form that produced 15.3 points per game and .383 shooting from three as a rookie last year, however. McCain has yet to hit a shot in two games back, going 0-for-7. He’s also been playing just 12 minutes a night, less than half his rookie workload, as he gets his wind back.
For Boston, Sam Hauser has been added to the injury report as probable for the game with a right wrist sprain. While it seems unlikely to keep him out, it might be impacting his performance. The career .417 shooter from deep has made just three of his last 20 threes. He hasn’t scored in double figures since Oct. 29 and even missed his first free throw since Dec. 8, 2023.
Look for the Sixers to cover the slim home spread against the Celtics.

Boston plays at the second-slowest pace in the NBA. Three of their wins have come when they’ve gone Under, so the Celtics seem to know the road to success is to slow things down. Philly has gone Over in seven of its 10 games this season, but that number is skewed by four straight Overs to start the season.
Tyrese Maxey is averaging 4.1 threes per game and hitting them at a .441 rate. He knocked down seven and four in the two previous games against Boston this season.
