Oddsmakers aren’t giving the visitors much love, with the NBA odds pegging them as 9.5-point underdogs.

We all know the altitude advantage for Denver at Ball Arena, but that advantage hasn’t been this overwhelming, now that it’s coupled with a team coming off an NBA title, featuring the best player in the NBA in Nikola Jokic.

The Nuggets improved to 3-0 at home on the year with a 125-114 drubbing of the Dallas Mavericks Friday night. 

They were paced by the two-time MVP Jokic, who dropped a season-best 33 points on a sparkling 14-for-16 from the field, tying a season-high with 14 boards, to go along with nine dimes.

Four of the five starters hit double-digits, with Jamal Murray scoring 18 points and dishing out 13 dimes, while Michael Porter Jr drilled four triples en route to 24 points and nine assists.

In each of Denver’s first three home games, it’s built halftime leads against each of the Lakers, Jazz, and Mavericks, and has won all three, two of which by double-digits.

Credit Michael Malone’s offense for always coming in on time, and getting good looks, as evidenced by their NBA-best 51.1% mark shooting from the field.

All of this to say, Denver hits you hard, early, and often. And that’s where we’re heading with our best bet.

The Nuggets are sixth in the NBA in first-quarter scoring, putting up 32.5 points per game, while Chicago ranks just 19th, putting up 25.3 points on the road in the opening frame. 

It’s no surprise then that Denver is ninth in first-half scoring at home, at 60.5 points, with the Bulls down at 25th at 49 points per game.

Chicago also comes into this one having lost three of its last four, the latest a 109-107 decision to the Brooklyn Nets.

Unfortunately, our best bet’s not available for a same-game parlay. For that, we’ll throw in the Denver 1H at -210 odds.

We’ve already pegged the Nuggets as the frontrunners in this contest, so let’s target to two of the primary drivers of this bus.

At this point, Jokic is one of the most exciting prop bet players to put money on, because it’s just so fun watching him deliver. He’s reached that greatness level where he shows up every night, and he does exactly what needs to get done for Denver to get the W.

We’re targeting rebounding because the big man has grabbed at least 10 rebounds in every game so far this season, and at least 12 in five of his last seven games against the Bulls. I expect him to be the catalyst for Denver Saturday, preventing this from turning into any kind of trap game.

I would have bet Jokic’s points-rebounds-assist total, if it weren’t for the fact that he’s gone for seven assists or less in three of his last five games. 

That current dime-guy for the Nuggets is point guard Jamal Murray, who has led the team in assists in each of the last four games, averaging 9.8 assists. 

This includes a season-best 14 against the Jazz in a 110-102 win and 13 last time out against the Mavericks. These performances also happened to come at home.

Most spread bets for this matchup are settling in at 10.5 points, but there’s a little bit of variety. If you think Denver takes this at 10 points or better, you can find lines offering the Nuggets at -9.5. 

Conversely, if this does turn into a trap game, you get a little extra incentive to take the Under, with lines giving Chicago +10.5.

On the year, the Bulls are 1-5-0 against the spread. The Nuggets, meanwhile, are the 3-3-0 ATS.

As for the total, this Over/Under has stayed pretty solid at 216.5 points, though it jumped up a point on FanDuel, at 217.5. Even then, this could be a clear Over wager hiding in plain sight.

However, Denver’s scoring number jumps to 118 points per game at home, and surprisingly, Chicago bumps up on the road too, climbing to 106.3.
