After a tough loss in extra innings on Friday, the New York Yankees will send one of their best pitchers to the hill opposite Boston Red Sox hurler Hunter Dobbins.

My Yankees vs. Red Sox predictions break down why the Red Sox starter could be in for a long night at Fenway.

Without further ado, let’s hand out some MLB picks for Saturday, June 14.

Yankees vs Red Sox prediction

My Yankees vs Red Sox best bet: Yankees -1.5 (-108 at DraftKings)

Hunter Dobbins does do a great job of limiting walks, but he hasn’t been able to overpower anyone with his stuff, sporting a low 17.9% strikeout rate.

The Boston Red Sox right-hander has relied primarily on ground balls to get outs, which has been a problem given one of the worst defensive infields in baseball.

Dobbins allowed two home runs last time out against the New York Yankees, something that’s unsurprising given his brutal .459 expected slugging and the Bronx Bombers' excellent .806 OPS versus ground-ballers, which ranks second in the bigs.

That should mean the Yankees score some more runs off Dobbins and continue hitting the ball well. In the last two weeks, they’re hitting .251 with a .170 isolated power — something that stands a good chance of improving in this matchup.

On the flip side, the Red Sox have struck out in 25.4% of their plate appearances in the last two weeks. Meanwhile, New York southpaw Carlos Rodon boasts a .197 xBA and should continue racking up strikeouts tonight.

Even if there’s a home run and a couple of walks against Rodon, New York’s edge against Dobbins is palpable.

Yankees vs Red Sox same-game parlay (SGP)

Yankees -1.5

Carlos Rodon 7+ strikeouts

Aaron Judge 3+ total bases

Rodon has struck out eight or more in three of his last four starts, including racking up five punchouts across five innings versus Boston.

The likelihood he makes it just five frames in this one is low, given Boston’s lack of power versus lefties and its weak strikeout rate. As long as Rodon hangs around for six frames, this prop is highly attainable.

Meanwhile, Aaron Judge is hitting .381 versus ground-ballers this year and went 3-for-4 against Dobbins last week. The right-hander rarely walks anyone, which means the dangerous Judge should have a field day with hittable pitches in the zone.
