Across 63 plate appearances (a sample size we can actually draw something from), the Halos own just a .251 xBA and .313 xwOBA.
Meanwhile, the No. 10 prospect in the Angels’ system has just 8 2/3 innings under his belt with a 7.80 xERA. That’ll work for us.
COVERS INTEL: Canadian Cal Quantrill is quietly having one of the best seasons of his career, sporting the second-lowest ERA, third-lowest xBA, and third-lowest barrel rate of his eight MLB campaigns.
Rangers vs Angels Over/Under pick: Over 8.5 runs (-116)
Not only are the Rangers’ bats about to feast — they own the 12th-highest wRC+ in baseball — they remain one of the better Over teams in the league, hitting at a 53.5% clip.
The Over has also cashed for Texas in five of their last six games when they’re taking on a team with a losing record.
All signs point to one thing tonight: runs. I’d play this up to -130.
Rangers vs Angels home run prediction: Joc Pederson (+344)
Joc Pederson is letting it fly this year, owning 22 bombs alongside an .854 OPS. He’s coming off hitting a leadoff bomb just last night and is sporting a career-high 50% hard-hit rate.
Pederson is the perfect candidate to go deep, and at +344, you have to hit the button.
