The Los Angeles Dodgers have dropped five consecutive games, and the Chicago Cubs are -125 favorites to extend that losing streak to six.
Shota Imanaga has not pitched as well as the surface numbers indicate, and my Dodgers vs. Cubs predictions believe Los Angeles will take advantage.
Let's break it down further with my MLB picks for Wednesday, Aug. 5
Who will win Dodgers vs Cubs today: Dodgers moneyline (+105)
It’s not every day the opportunity to bet the Los Angeles Dodgers at plus money presents itself, and this is a spot to pounce.
Shota Imanaga’s profile over the last month screams regression. His xFIP (3.90) is nearly three runs higher than his ERA (1.09), and he has stranded every baserunner he’s allowed along the way.
He's also allowed a near double-digit barrel rate this season, which will help get the Dodgers bats back on track.
Eric Lauer will need run support, but he should get it.
Play Los Angeles to -105.

Dodgers vs Cubs Over/Under pick: Over 9.5 (-105)
Wrigley Field is a tough place to pitch when the hitting conditions are favorable, and Imanaga has found that out the hard way.
Isolating home games in hitter-friendly conditions, Imanaga owns a 5.00 ERA and has allowed 2.26 HR/9 through six starts this season.
Lauer has allowed 2.05 HR/9 this season, and it’ll be difficult to tighten the screws at Wrigley. Even more so given the Chicago Cubs rank first in wOBA and OPS vs. lefties over the last month.
I make this total 9.7, and would play the Over to -112.
- ML/RL bets: 70-63, -7.20
- Over/Under bets: 73-54-6, +10.24 units
Dodgers vs Cubs weather
The forecast calls for temperatures in the high 70s with winds blowing out. That will really help the bats at Wrigley Field.
