The Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels meet in the series finale this afternoon, and it is expected to be a high-scoring affair at Comerica Park.

My Angels vs. Tigers predictions are eyeing the hosts to jump on Grayson Rodriguez early and ultimately take the rubber match.

Read more in my MLB picks for Thursday, May 28.

Who will win Angels vs Tigers today: Tigers moneyline (-138)

The Detroit Tigers won the second game of this series on Wednesday, beating the Los Angeles Angels 4-0. They send Jack Flaherty to the mound here, who has a 5.94 ERA and a 0-6 record this season. While his 5.84 ERA at home doesn't exactly jump off the page, he's battled lately, not allowing more than four earned runs in a start this month.

More importantly, the Tigers are in a position to score runs. Grayson Rodriguez has been atrocious for the Halos.

He's compiled a 10.61 ERA across two starts this year, with opponents hitting .359 as he works his way back from an extended absence, having last pitched on July 31, 2024, before his Angels debut this month. He surrendered four earned runs last time out and seven more against the Dodgers before that.

The Tigers don't have much of a track record against Rodriguez, but his struggles are evident, and the hosts should capitalize after banging out 10 hits on Wednesday. I'd play this to -145.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Rodriguez's 8.25 xERA signals severe first-inning vulnerability as he struggles to settle in. Target Tigers First Inning Over 0.5 Runs in addition to the moneyline.

Angels vs Tigers Over/Under pick: Over 9 (+100)

This matchup has been historically high-scoring. Six of the last eight meetings have cashed the Over, and with two inconsistent starters on the hill, it offers value again. Wednesday's clash was the first time these two didn't combine for Over 9.5 runs in five meetings.

Flaherty is giving up runs weekly, and Rodriguez is getting shelled. Also, the Angels have one of the worst bullpens in the big leagues, sporting a 5.24 ERA. Detroit's pen isn't much better, compiling a 4.02 ERA as a staff.

Offense will stand out this afternoon at Comerica Park. I like the Over 9, but would prefer Over 9.5 at plus money.
