PrizePicks announced on Friday a multi-year partnership with Kalshi to allow customers to buy and sell event contracts in sports, entertainment, and pop culture.

Key Takeaways

  • PrizePicks had previously been reserved for prop-style sports wagering.

  • Polymarket also agreed to a deal with PrizePicks earlier this week.

  • Team Picks will mostly be available in states without legal sports betting markets.

The proliferation of event contracts is still in progress.

PrizePicks and Kalshi’s multi-year agreement will allow users of the fantasy contest platform to trade contracts related to a variety of outcomes within a single event. This greatly expands the traditional “more” or “less” prop betting-style menu that was available for its users.

“Expanding into prediction markets delivers on what our customers want, innovative products with more ways to play,” said Mike Ybarra, CEO of PrizePicks. “Together with Kalshi, we will welcome new customers across many states to the PrizePicks experience, and we couldn't be more excited about the opportunity ahead in this fast-growing space.”

Markets available to customers now include results of NFL games, award show winners, cultural headlines, and more.

The announcement comes the same week that PrizePicks unveiled its partnership with Polymarket, the fantasy contest company’s first foray into the prediction industry.

“As of today, people will be able to access Kalshi's prediction markets within the PrizePicks app,” said Tarek Mansour, co-founder and CEO of Kalshi. “This is a game-changing moment, and we're excited to be the first to fuel and supercharge the PrizePicks fan experience.”

Both PrizePicks and Underdog, the leading daily fantasy sports platforms, have now secured prediction platform partners.

Breaking down barriers

PrizePicks’ launch of event contracts will include Team Picks and/or Culture Picks, available in 38 states and Washington, D.C.

Team Picks allows users to buy and sell contracts related to the winner of a game, fight, or contests. It also includes futures markets, such as projected team win totals, championship winners, and more.

This marks the first time that PrizePicks users will be allowed to directly interact with team outcomes.

Culture Picks marks PrizePicks’ first time venturing out of just the sports industry into entertainment and cultural markets.

Users can trade contracts involving the Best New Artist at the Grammys, Golden Globes winners, or who will win the 2028 presidential election.

Culture Picks are available in the majority of states. Team Picks are mostly available in states that do not have legal sports betting markets, including:

  • Alabama
  • Alaska
  • Arkansas
  • Georgia
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • Nebraska
  • Oklahoma
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Texas
  • Washington

PrizePicks continues to grow

PrizePicks recently became the first sports entertainment operator to be approved as a Futures Commission Merchant by the National Futures Association. That opened the door for it to offer regulated prediction markets.

PrizePicks is committed to remaining compliant with the relevant rules and regulations, the company said.

Kalshi, meanwhile, has experienced tremendous growth this year. On top of launching sports contracts earlier this year, it reported more than $100 million in trades related to the New York City mayoral election.
