Ontario’s June Gaming Revenue Spikes 28% Year-Over-Year

The Heartland Province's three forms of gambling combined to generate over CAD $300 million in non-adjusted gross revenue for the third straight month.

Ontario’s three forms of gaming generated more than CAD $300 million in total non-adjusted gross income for the third consecutive month.

Canada's only province with legal sports betting, iGaming, and poker generated $306.8 million in operator profits, a 28% year-over-year increase, from more than $7.25 billion in June wagers, according to Ontario iGaming. 

It’s just the fourth time gaming operators reached $300 million in a single month since gambling markets launched in April 2022. 

June’s amount bet from total gaming was up 21.4% year-over-year in Ontario and went above $7 billion for the ninth straight month.

Ontario’s online casinos were the biggest generators in June. Their $243 million in profit made up 79% of the market’s revenue. Compared to June 2024, income spiked 41.7% while wagering increased 24.7%.  

Mobile sports betting brought in $58.4 million, down almost 8% from the previous year, on a $768 million handle about equal to June 2024. Poker had just 2% of total revenue. 

While year-over-year improvements were strong, June fell $35 million short of May’s all-time $338 million gross revenue mark. Total wagering was down 10% month-over-month, while active player accounts fell 5% between May and June. 

Staying active 

The number of gaming accounts also saw a major bump, going from 303,000 in June 2024 to 1.01 million in the latest reported month. It’s the eighth consecutive month active accounts surpassed 1 million. 

Average revenue per active player increased 5.9% from last year and reached $300 for only the sixth time.
