Ontario iGaming recently reported monthly cash wagering of $7.6 billion CAD from casinos, sports betting, and poker. Wagering was up 4% compared to June.
The province’s 50 operators hauled in $311 million in gross revenue, a 28.5% increase compared to July 2024.
Online casino gaming generated $6.3 billion in wagers and accounted for 89% of July’s total, the highest over the last 12 months. Non-adjusted gross revenue reached $252.3 million, a 37% year-over-year increase and the second highest across the last 12 months.
The only province with legalized online gaming has produced over $61 billion in wagers and nearly $2.2 billion in gross revenue year-to-date.
Falling off
Sports betting took a predictable month-over-month tumble, with the cash wagering falling from $972 million in June to $688 million in July. The NBA wrapped up in the previous month and left bettors with baseball, soccer, golf, and tennis as the primary sources of action.
Ontario’s online sportsbooks reported $52.7 million in gross revenue, a slight dip from the same month in 2024 and 10% less than June.
Player-to-player poker wagering remained steady year-over-year at $132 million, while revenue rose from $5.5 million to $5.9 million in July. Poker profits were also up from June’s $5.4 million.
Actives on the rise
Monthly active player accounts also spiked 15.1% year-over-year in July to 948,000, but there was a 6% month-over-month drop.
Average revenue per active account reached $328 in July, a $25 increase from the previous month, and was up 11.6% year-over-year.
