With the summer slowdown fully underway, New York's weekly handle fell below $400 million for the fifth straight week.

Key takeaways

  • Empire State sportsbooks generated 9.4% fewer dollars bet than the same week in 2024.
  • Revenue fell below $40 million for the third consecutive week.
  • FanDuel and DraftKings posted impressive holds.

The New York Gaming Commission reported eight online sports betting operators generated $328.7 million in wagers during the week ending July 13. The latest handle was down 9.4% from the same period in 2024 and 7.2% from the previous week.

Profits remained under $40 million for the third straight week. New York online sports betting operators hauled in $35 million in gross revenue, nearly $3 million less than week before.

Sportsbooks enjoyed a 10.6% hold, nearly matching the previous seven-day period's 10.7%. Win rates stayed in the double digits in seven of the last eight weeks.

Market leaders keep bashing bettors

New York’s top two market leaders combined for nearly 80% of the week’s total revenue.

DraftKings led all Empire State operators during the week ending July 13 with a $122.6 million handle, down $11 million from the previous week. Still, the online sportsbook’s 10.2% hold produced $12.6 million in income.

FanDuel had an even better hold, winning back 13.5% on a $112.1 million handle. The operator produced at least $15 million in profit in 11 of the past 12 weeks.

Fanatics stays in third

Fanatics Sportsbook took in $30.6 million in bets during the week ending July 13, the third-most among New York operators. A hold just under double digits produced $2.8 million in revenue, Fanatics’ third consecutive profit period below $4 million after five weeks over that mark.

Caesars was fourth with a $24 million handle. BetMGM fell to fifth after generating $22.5 million. Caesars produced $1.7 million in revenue, a little over $1 million more than BetMGM.

ESPN BET generated $6.8 million in wagers but went from $1.4 million in income during the previous week to $506,109 in the latest period. BetRivers finished seventh with a $7.8 million handle and revenue under $500,000. Bally Bet produced a 9.3% hold on a $2.1 million haul.
