The New York Knicks only played one NBA playoff game during the recent reported period, but bettors still won the battle against the Empire State’s online sportsbooks.

Key Takeaways

  • New York’s online sportsbooks held just 5.6% on a $482.9-million handle.

  • The Knicks, Yankees, and Mets all enjoyed a good week.

  • FanDuel went from back-to-back 12% holds to 6.4% in the latest period.

The New York Gaming Commission reported on Thursday that the state's eight mobile operators combined to generate $26.9 million in gross revenue, the lowest weekly profit total since late January, during the period ending May 31.

The Knicks swept the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the Eastern Conference on Memorial Day during the same week that the Yankees went 5-1 and the Mets went 4-2, leading to some success for bettors, who have been pounded in recent weeks.

New York sports betting operators produced a 5.6% hold on a $482.9-million handle, down less than 1% from the previous week and the state's third consecutive week with less than $500 million wagered.

Bad week for big boys

FanDuel, which had destroyed bettors with back-to-back 12% win rates, saw its hold dip to 6.4% in the latest period. The online operator generated just $11 million, its lowest revenue haul in 18 weeks, from a $171-million handle.

DraftKings didn’t fare any better behind a hold that met the state’s average during the week. The online sportsbook’s revenue of $8.8 million was just its third under $10 million in 2026. The lower profits came from a $158.2-million handle that was actually $1.4 million more than the previous week's.

More struggles

Fanatics was the only online sportsbook to experience a week-over-week revenue increase, but the operator still only won back 5.4% of a $61.1-million handle. BetMGM reported a 4.4% hold on $37.5 million in wagers, while Caesars failed to reach 4% on a $33.2-million handle.

BetRivers turned in the week’s worst win rate, recording less than $80,000 in gross revenue on a $9.4-million handle, while theScore Bet held 5.1% on a similar amount wagered. Bally Bet’s 8.3% hold was the highest among Empire State operators.
