New York sports betting got off to a great October start, producing the second $600 million handle in the first four weeks of the 2026 NFL season.
- New York sports betting produced its second $600 million handle this NFL season.
- Week 4 helped generate $619.4 million in wagers during the period ending Oct. 4.
- FanDuel's streak continued, generating $200 million in handles each week this NFL season.
The National Football League’s Week 4 helped generate $619.4 million in wagers during the period ending Oct. 4, the fourth-largest handle in New York’s gaming history and an 8% week-over-week wagering increase.
Sportsbooks are ahead of last year, when it took until late October to generate a $600 million handle. Wagering during the NFL’s Week 4 increased 12.5% compared to the same period in 2025.
The New York State Gaming Commission reported on Thursday that eight online operators won back $49.2 million, a 7.9% hold, from that massive handle. Even though New York sportsbooks haven’t been able to produce a double-digit hold since mid-August, Week 4 of the NFL season still led to the largest gross revenue week since football began.
The gross revenue from the week ending Oct. 4 is a slight week-over-week increase and is also the Empire State’s largest since the World Cup ended in July.
FanDuel is streaking
FanDuel has generated $200 million in handles each week this NFL season, with the $228.2 million in amount wagered finishing as the second-highest during that stretch. FanDuel was the lone New York online sports betting operator to produce a hold above 10% as the sportsbook kept $23.6 million, its largest gross revenue haul in 11 weeks.
DraftKings generated over $200 million in wagers for the third time in the last three weeks, but the sportsbook only won back 6.4%. The operator’s $13.8 million in gross revenue was down from the previous week’s $18.1 million.
