Fanatics and ESPN BET retail sportsbooks are set to open at Missouri’s highest-grossing casinos.

Key Takeaways
  • One of Fanatics or ESPN BET will open at each of Missouri’s four top-grossing casinos Dec. 1.

  • DraftKings, FanDuel, and other major operators will launch online books and are expected to dominate wagering.

  • Missouri bettors can deposit funds starting Nov. 17 ahead of the statewide go-live date.

The Missouri casinos with the greatest revenue totals last fiscal year - Ameristar St. Charles, River City Casino, Hollywood Casino, and Ameristar Kansas City - are all partnered with either Fanatics or ESPN BET for their respective retail sportsbooks. Combined, the quartet in the 2025 fiscal year generated more revenue than the total of the state’s other nine casinos.

The two Ameristar casinos are managed by Boyd Gaming, which partnered with Fanatics to manage its properties’ retail sportsbooks as well as for an online gaming license. PENN, which manages the ESPN BET mobile sportsbook, operates the River City and Hollywood casinos.

St. Charles County, home to the eponymous Ameristar Casino, has Missouri’s highest median household income. It is part of St. Louis’ western suburbs and is a short drive from the region’s major airport.

PENN’s River City Casino is located just south of St. Louis proper in the separate jurisdiction of St. Louis County. The County is Missouri’s No. 5 county by median household income.

Hollywood Casino is also in St. Louis County. It is across the River from Ameristar St. Charles.

Ameristar Kansas City is the only member of the top four outside the St. Louis region. It is located within the Kansas City’ jurisdictional limits, northeast of downtown and due north of the Truman Sports Complex.

Missouri is set to see as many as eight retail sportsbooks when legal wagering begins Dec. 1.

The state’s fifth, sixth, and seventh-highest grossing casinos from last fiscal year will also have retail sportsbooks. Caesars plans to open a book at its Harrah’s Kansas City (No. 5) and Horseshoe St. Louis (No. 7) properties. PENN-operated Argosy Riverside Casino near St. Louis (No. 6) is also set to open an ESPN BET sportsbook.

The last remaining book set to open this year is a BetMGM book at Century Casino Cape Girardeau in the state’s southwestern bootheel. The casino ranked 10th in 2025 fiscal year revenue of the state’s 13 casinos.

Online sports betting set to be even bigger

Missouri bettors are set to have even more mobile sports betting options than retail. These online wagers are also expected to make up the vast majority of bets.

At least eight sportsbooks have met the requirements so far to open mobile books along with retail betting on the Dec. 1 go-live date. This list includes national market-share leaders that accept more than 90% of bets placed nationwide.

DraftKings, the No. 2 national book by market share, and Circa have already received licenses. The pair won the state’s two “untethered” licenses, which allows them to enter the state without partnering with a Missouri casino or sportsbook.

FanDuel, the No. 1 sportsbook nationwide by share, is partnered with MLS club St. Louis CITY SC for market access. Company officials told regulators it expects itself and DraftKings to be the No. 1 and No. 2 operator in Missouri when they go live.

Combined, DraftKings and FanDuel accept more than two-thirds of all legal bets placed nationwide. They are also available already in Missouri neighbors Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Tennessee, and Kentucky. They are the top two by market share in each state.

Fanatics, ESPN BET, Caesars, and BetMGM are also set to go live Dec. 1 via partnerships with the aforementioned casinos. bet365 secured market access through MLB’s St. Louis Cardinals.

Neither bet365 nor FanDuel has announced plans to open retail sportsbooks at their respective partners’ sports stadiums. The state’s other four pro sports teams have not announced a third-party sportsbook partner.

Underdog has also applied for a sports betting license but has not announced its required casino or sports team market access partner. Without the partner, Underdog will be unable to go live Dec. 1.

Sports betting tech provider Kambi has also applied to accept bets in Missouri. The company has not announced if it will work with a third-party sports betting company or plans to open its own consumer-facing brand.

The approved licenses are expected to be announced by state regulators next month. Bettors can deposit into licensed sportsbooks beginning Nov. 17, two weeks ahead of the go-live date.
