Another operator of sports betting apps is joining the fray in Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) heard on Monday that Betr planned to launch later in the day in the commonwealth following some more software testing.
Commissioners approved an operations certificate for Betr on April 25, putting the microbetting-focused sportsbook on the cusp of going live in the Bay State. Betr’s only other market is Ohio, where it began taking bets in January.
Betr dubbed itself “the world’s first microbetting app,” specializing in legal sports betting markets such as the outcome of the next pitch in baseball or the next drive in football. It was founded in 2022 by Joey Levy and Jake Paul.
Could be betr
So far, though, it has been a slow start for the new app. Betr handled $898,188 in wagers during March, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission, second-last among online operators for the month.
However, Betr has recently begun expanding the type of markets it offers to include more traditional products, such as moneylines and totals. It has also continued to bolster its social media presence, announcing last month an exclusive partnership with the Cavinder Twins.
Massachusetts, meanwhile, will now have another operator added to its legal sports betting scene. Massachusetts sports betting included six online operators taking bets in the state before the launch of Betr.
The MGC's sports wagering director, Bruce Band, also added on Monday that Fanatics Sportsbooks is in line to launch next week in the state. Bally Bet and Betway will launch in the future as well.
