It was a teaser that never came to fruition.
The NBA's Charlotte Hornets announced this week their 18 theme nights for the 2025-26 regular season. One of those nights was supposed to be a Sports Betting theme night, sponsored by bet365, when the Hornets will host the Miami Heat on March 17.

- Hornets announce theme night "no longer happening on that day."
As if the Charlotte Hornets are having a "Sports Betting Night" this season... and it's against the Miami Heat w/ Terry Rozier, currently under federal investigation regarding sports gambling.

Oh, and it's also on Rozier's birthday. pic.twitter.com/jZTlm9Ya8j
With the Tar Heel State celebrating its two-year anniversary of legalized sports betting that month, it seemed like a logical idea.
Then again, maybe not.
An investigation is currently ongoing by federal authorities into Heat guard Terry Rozier, for potential playing time manipulation during a game in the 2022-23 season while he was a member of the Hornets.
Rozier had also been mentioned in a Wall Street Journal report on Jan. 30 about being linked to the gambling investigation that led to a league lifetime disqualification of former Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter, who is currently facing criminal charges.
Although Rozier has not been charged or been accused of wrongdoing, his status is volatile at best as he enters into the final season of the contract the Heat acquired when he was trade from the Hornets in 2024.
March 17 also happens to be Rozier's birthday.
The scheduled promotion drew concerns on social media before it was scrubbed from the team website on Wednesday night.
"It is no longer happening on that day," the Hornets told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
So, while originally on the calendar, it is no longer being offered as the Hornets' theme nights have dwindled to 17 after removing the promotion.
