FanDuel unveiled its “Play with a Plan” responsible gaming initiative Thursday, designed to help bettors make smarter choices.
The new approach is designed to help players make better decisions by themselves, as opposed to simply seeing restrictive messaging.
Key Takeaways
- The campaign is one of many recently launched by FanDuel.
- FanDuel reports a 41% year-over-year increase in the utilization of its responsible gaming tools.
- FanDuel’s parent company just invested $100 million in responsible gaming.
The goal of “Play with a Plan” is to help users regain autonomy in their decision-making process without being told what they can and can’t do. The company compared the feature to using a seatbelt, which individuals know to do for their safety without being told to do it every time they enter their car.
“Play with a Plan” works by encouraging FanDuel users to engage with a variety of responsible gaming tools, tailored to their experience. That includes My Spend, Loss Limits, and Deposit Alerts.
My Spend is a dashboard that shows customers their spending and betting habits, broken into weekly, monthly, and three-month increments.
Loss Limits allows users to set a threshold for losses they are willing to accept in a day, week, or month. Wagers will be blocked once they reach the maximum amount they set.
Deposit Alerts allow bettors to set budget parameters and receive automated notifications within daily, weekly, and monthly cycles.
FanDuel has other responsible gaming features as well. Its Real-Time Check-In, which launched in 2025, uses machine learning and customer data to establish baseline patterns and help customers make informed decisions regarding their money.

Encouraging signs
The new “Play with a Plan” initiative comes on the back of FanDuel reporting a 41% year-over-year increase in its responsible gaming tool usage, resulting in the highest utilization rate in the sportsbook’s history.
FanDuel’s parent company, Flutter Entertainment, also just announced another $100 million investment in responsible gaming in its Positive Impact Plan.
“This refreshed platform was purposeful and reflects the research we’ve done to rethink how Responsible Gaming is communicated most effectively to consumers,” said Cory Fox, senior vice president of public policy and sustainability at FanDuel.
“These insights shaped everything from the development of our messaging to ongoing innovation across our tools. FanDuel remains focused on making Responsible Gaming more intuitive and inviting for customers.”
FanDuel’s responsible gaming sweepstakes campaign drew more than 550,000 participants in 2025.
The company noted “meaningful tool adoption,” with 56% of participants in the My Spend campaign utilizing the tool at least once within 90 days of the campaign’s conclusion.
