The Buffalo Bills have company heading into Week 7 in the latest Super Bowl winner market at several online sportsbooks.

Key Takeaways

  • The Bills’ MNF loss to Atlanta, combined with Kansas City’s Sunday night win, has altered the futures market.

  • The Chiefs’ odds to win the Super Bowl during the regular season reached as high as +1600 at one sportsbook.

  • The Steelers are gaining traction after a 4-1 start.

The favorite to capture the NFL’s title has held the top spot on odds lists for all six weeks of the season. Early on, Buffalo shared No. 1 with the Baltimore Ravens, who have started the season 1-5 and have fallen out of contention for now.

The Bills enjoyed a stranglehold as the championship favorite for the last several weeks, reaching as low as +375 at BetMGM. However, back-to-back losses, including Monday night’s 24-14 defeat at Atlanta, have moved the Bills to at least +600 at most sportsbooks.

Combined with a Kansas City Chiefs squad that’s found its familiar, patented winning groove after a 0-2 start, and the Super Bowl winner market has become close again, even tied at some shops.

Familiar feeling

A team that’s played in the last three Super Bowls is pushing for another trip in futures markets.

The Chiefs have won three of their last four games, including a 30-17 victory over championship contender Detroit on Sunday night. On Tuesday morning, the Chiefs were +650 at BetMGM and tied as low as +600 at ESPN BET. That put Kansas City tied with Buffalo.

Following back-to-back losses to start the season, the Chiefs’ preseason odds of +800 to win it all slipped to as low as +1400 at BetMGM. They were +1000 after losing a close Monday night game in Week 5 to the Jaguars.

The Bills entered Sunday at +475 on ESPN BET, but after not playing a game, they moved to +500. Following the Monday night loss, they fell to +600.

The Chiefs were fourth in the odds list on Sunday morning at +800. After beating the Lions, they moved to +650 behind the Bills, and tied them at +600 by Tuesday morning.

The Packers are right there, too, coming in at +700 in third, with the Lions falling back from second to fourth, going from +650 to +750 after their Sunday night loss.

Money moves

There is more money on the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl than any other team in the futures market at ESPN BET since the start of the season. Kansas City has seen 6.9% of the bets but a whopping 23.8% of the handle, more than double the percentage of any other team.

The Bills lead in tickets with 14.8%, and they are second with 11.9% of the handle. The Lions aren’t far behind with 11.4% of the bets and 11.7% of the handle. The Packers now have over 10% of the handle and ticket count.

At BetMGM, the Lions hold the lead in bets with 13.2% of the tickets, while the Bills have the most money at 13.2%. The Chiefs are receiving 7.5% of the wagers and 8.2% of the handle, ranking sixth behind the Bills, Lions, Ravens, Eagles, and Packers.

Getting shorter

After a 23-9 victory over Cleveland in Week 6, the 4-1 Steelers made a notable jump in Super Bowl winner odds, going from +5000 to +3000 at BetMGM, where they opened at +8000 earlier this year. The longest odds for Pittsburgh during the regular season reached +6600.

The Steelers, who have 3.1% of the bets and 2.7% of the handle, took a notable wager at +5000 with a $5,000 bet to payout $250,000 if they win the Super Bowl, BetMGM reported. There’s also a $5K bet on them to win the AFC with odds of +2000.

The Indianapolis Colts enter Week 7 with a 5-1 record, after a rallying win over the Cardinals. The AFC South leader saw their odds to win the Super Bowl shorten from +2200 to +1700 at BetMGM. With preseason odds of +10000 and once one of the least-bet teams in the market, the Colts’ handle is still less than 1%.

Tampa Bay shortened from +2200 to +1800 after a rousing victory over the 49ers in Week 6, but the NFC South leader is only getting 2.2% of the tickets and 1.3% of the handle to win the Super Bowl.
