BetMGM Updates Heisman Odds: Nussmeier Begins Building Case While Manning Falls

Nussmeier (+650) impressed during a come-from-behind road victory over No. 4 Clemson. Arch Manning (+1,600), meanwhile, saw his stock drop after throwing for fewer than 200 yards against defending national champion Ohio State.

The first full weekend of college football concludes Monday night as TCU visits North Carolina in its first game under head coach Bill Belichick, and BetMGM Sportsbook has released its updated Heisman Trophy odds.

Let's take a look at the latest movement for the candidates who won and lost in Week 1.

Winners

LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier (opening +850 to current +650): Nussmeier, the betting favorite, completed 28 of 38 passes for 232 yards and the crucial touchdown in the fourth quarter to lead No. 9 LSU to a solid, come-from-behind 17-10 road victory at No. 4 Clemson on Saturday. He leads the Tigers in their home opener vs. Louisiana Tech this weekend.

South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers (+1,800 to +700): The second favorite completed 12 of 19 passes for 209 yards and one TD with no interceptions, plus he ran for a score in South Carolina's 24-11 neutral-site victory over Virginia Tech. South Carolina hosts South Carolina State on Saturday.

Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith (+1,300 to +1,500): The Buckeyes' leading wide receiver was held in check in the defensive 14-7 win over Texas with six receptions for 43 yards and no TDs. The Buckeyes will host Grambling State on Saturday, so look for Smith to have multiple scores.

Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt (+4,000 to +1,600): Leavitt completed 25 of 39 passes for 257 yards, two TDs and one INT in a 38-19 home win over Northern Arizona. He also had seven carries for 73 yards and two rushing scores. Arizona State visits Mississippi State next.

Losers

Texas QB Arch Manning (+900 to +1,600): Manning didn't live up to the name or preseason favorite hype, as he completed 17 of 30 passes for a mere 170 yards with one TD and an interception. He also had 10 carries for 38 yards on the ground as No. 1 Texas lost on the road to defending national champion Ohio State, 14-7, on the weekend.

Manning will have three straight home games to make up for his performance, starting with San Jose State on Saturday.

Clemson QB Cade Klubnik (+1,100 to +1,600): Klubnik completed 19 of 38 passes for 230 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in a subpar performance at home versus LSU. Clemson hosts Troy next.
