The DraftKings bettor who was offered $135,000 to cash out of a $13 parlay has lost close to $100,000 in value.
Drew Hirschman, 24, needs the Oklahoma City Thunder and Edmonton Oilers to win their respective championships to cash his $270,000 ticket.
Key Takeaways
- The bet was placed after Saquon Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles
- The Thunder are in the driver’s seat in the NBA Finals at -1600 odds
- The Oilers are road underdogs in Game 6 and need to win two straight games
Hirschman’s improbable ticket had odds of +2082680, or less than .005 percent. The unsettled $13 stake would pay the recent college grad $270,761.40 if it hits.
The five-leg futures parlay is waiting on the results of the Stanley Cup Final and NBA Finals to determine if the ticket is golden or worthless. While the Thunder find themselves up 3-2 in the Finals, following a victory in Game 5 on Monday evening, the Oilers are in a 3-2 hole to the Florida Panthers with Game 6 set for Tuesday evening.

The bold bettor has made good on his promise of not cashing out the ticket – but unfortunately for him, that’s coincided with close to six figures in losses.
Hirschman’s cash-out offer fell to $39,902.75 before Game 5 of the Thunder-Pacers series. The offer inevitably increased after the final whistle, but the biggest obstacle is still the Oilers, who are +126 on the road on Tuesday.
OKC was a 9.5-point home favorite in Game 5, so their win likely didn’t greatly alter the cash-out value.
Riding out the ticket
Hirschman’s bet slip already checked off winning legs that included the Los Angeles Dodgers to win the World Series, the Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl, and the New York Liberty to win the WNBA Finals.
Despite the massive money at play, the New Yorker said that he is not a “huge” bettor. He only added the Eagles to the slip after they signed Saquon Barkley from his favorite team, the New York Giants.
He’s also received his share of criticism for refusing to cash out of the ticket.
“The nasty comments are going to come,” he said about turning down the six-figure payout. “I am a little greedy.”
Will the Oilers force a Game 7?
The Oilers’ last trip down to Florida saw them pull a miraculous comeback after they fell into an 0-3 hole in the first period. They wound up winning 5-4 in overtime, their second win of the series that needed extra time.
The Panthers have a +7 goal difference in the series, which is a rematch of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final. The Panthers won that series in seven games, clinching the title with a 2-1 victory in their arena.
Hirschman is confident this year will play out differently.
“Florida is a great team, but Edmonton is better, and they’re going to win in seven,” he said after Game 3. "Mark my words.”
The Oilers are +310 to win the championship, while the Thunder are -1600. Those have combined odds of +336, or a 22.9 percent implied probability.
