    YTD: 14-14

No words about yesterday. The Wings waited 6 minutes before tip-off to release their starting line-up and guess what, Mabrey was in the line-up and she was once again a solid starter. Sabally played her best game so far of the season and the Aces gave up in the 4Q.

Not sure these games will even be on today after the NBA players boycotted.

The Mystics walked into the court each wearing white shirts with a letter on the front spelling out with Blake's name and on the back they had 7 holes representing how many times the poor bloke was shot. Just by them walking into the arena is a good sign though.

Angel said just a few minutes ago that they might still play because they try so hard to get game time on the TV and they dont always follow the way the NBA players do there things so who knows.. Lines are still up so we might still get some action.

Was a little thrown off due to the events. Woke up and saw that the Bucks had not shown up so that put me off. I won't be touching the very first game. For anyone that is, Carter is probable for the Dream.

In regards to the "every 7 mins" that is, they will take a shot clock violation around the 7th minute of every quarter. So potentially if you are betting totals today you may lose 4 extra possessions which can be a massive influence on the game total.

All games have been called off today....

See what develops over the next few hours. Might not see any basketball for a few days.

    Wow really?

i heard sexual assault and domestic violence.

     Raped a 14 year old?

    damn

    Another pillar of our society.

What a joke defending a man like that by not going to work. They should be ashamed  Get the facts before you make a fool of yourself

    Oh boy

But some will believe the fairy tale and not the truth.   Just hope my mailman shows up tomorrow.

Not saying right to shoot a guy seven times in back. But maybe you shouldn’t resist arrest???

Sexual assault.  Domestic violence. Rape. Going for his knife.  Resisting arrest. This is what you got here. I wouldn’t want to that police job.

let’s hope we get a terrific speech by Donald J tonite.

As an outsider looking in, it blows my mind that the police officers in the US are so gun happy. Surely there are other ways that a police officer(s) can use to bring a man down to the ground. Quote me if I am wrong but I have also been told that to become a police officer in the US it doesnt take much training  at all. In fact it takes longer training to become a hair stylist then a cop? Is that right?

The police in Australia have to got through a 9-12 month university degree, they leave their families to go to the academy for at least 6 months (at their own expense) and at the academy they are taught all about combat and gun handling. If the above is true about the US police officers, then technically you are putting guns into their hands with very little expertise or experience and then they cannot handle a situation like Blake's and many others so they cr@p themselves.

Joe do you own a gun?

I have never seen one, never fired one and wouldn't want too.

No I don't since I am in the most liberal ass city in the world. Really don't think people should own guns in the cities though. Officers go thru more  than you state. I don't know how much exactly. Maybe you are right not sure. But I guess if you fight the officers, then go to the other side of the car to get your knife you should expect them to let the guy stab you a few times and let you go. Again 7 times seems excessive but the guy was going for something and it seems like a knife. Lets play it out in court. But damn I don't want to be that officer with a guy coming at me with a knife and i can't shoot. A white person the officer would have done the same I really think. Maybe I am naive.

Aussie you don't have a race of people that commits 75% of violent crime in NYC and are only 25% of the population. You don't have a race of people that commits 57% of violent crimes in the USA but make up only 13% of the population. (And when you kill or rob it is known what race of the person is like 100% correct). Why you think police stop more black people then? You have a mostly homogeneous population, we don't. The black culture really has no role models, the male element is in jail or selling drugs or dead. So there is no real family unit to alot of these people. They look up to Puff Daddy and LB and Snoop Dog and others that they have no way of being. Why don't they have more people like Obama or a dad that works hard and can be looked up to? See that is the REAL question. Why haven't they been able to have a cohesive family unit? That is the question that needs answered and helped and it doesn't come from more money thrown at agencies and social welfare. It comes from the family unit. Many don't want equality they want to be a victim and repaid for it over and over again.

Then you have the WOKE young whites who for some reason feel guilty about being white. This is the greatest country in the world that everyone wants to come to, that is the envy of the world but the liberal media and the misguided Socialist Democrats are undermining what makes this country so great. That if you want to work hard and put your nose to the grindstone you can make something of yourself. Everyone can. Everyone. That is the truth no matter what the fallacy you hear.

This article in USA Today written by a police officer whose father was also a police officer says standard training is about 5-6 months. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/policing/2020/06/11/ex-cop-academy-training-falls-short-police-need-extensive-education/5342917002/

Not sure where Joe is getting his statistics from but this one from Statista shows violent crime rates at a similar level for whites and blacks. While this one from Pew Research shows that while incarcerations have decreased across the board, the rate for blacks is still significantly higher than other races.

In my observation, it continues to boil down to more economic opportunities as well as well funded education systems. We have lots of school districts here that have lopsided dispersal of funds with low income neighborhoods often getting the short end of the stick, not to mention the lack of business investment in those same neighborhoods. It’s also been shown that banks are historically less likely to loan to minorities thus making it more difficult to open businesses and own homes and the like.

I won’t discount the importance of strong male role modes however I think it goes beyond that too.

Fool I don't  think you  are right on stats. I looked at three independent reports before I wrote it. They all were about the same. Blacks (and Hispanics) commit the vast majority of violent crimes. No one says this. Not CNN.  Not the rag nY Times. In fact the proportion of blacks and Hispanics that are arrested or stopped and frisked is LOWER than the proportion that DO the violent crimes. Wrap that around your head. Just saying.  Cop training you may be right. I didn’t look that up.

Being a victim over and over again is a great excuse to keep it all going in perpetuity.

We need to get past that and look at you and I and see just a human being and not a Black Lives Matter black or brown person. That keeps us separate. A shame. But when a race of people commits a majority of crimes we need to investigate this and ask why? And it starts with the family unit. I don’t know how we can make that better or even why it is like that.

Firstly, I want to say thank you for keeping it civil. I know how this issue can really get people going. The only way to make any progress is to discuss this as gentlemen.

That being said, can you point us to these studies? I'd like to review them. From what I found on the official Federal Bureau of Investigations website, in 2017 out of 2,221,697 Black or African Americans arrested in the US a total of 151,744 were charged with what the FBI labels as "Violent Crimes" - Violent crimes are offenses of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

That same year Whites counted for 5,626,140 arrests of which 236,590 were for the same violent crimes. The tables for the year 2018 show similar numbers. 2019 is not yet available.
