    YTD: 27-14

So this week is coming to and end. We have 3 teams who are really staying to give it in and thats Fever, Sky and Liberty. They are pretty much out of the running and playing for draft picks now. So that leaves 9 teams gunning for 8 playoff spots.

There is a little rumour floating around the WNBA league that Reeve and the Lynx are playing so called "sloppy" basketball at times because they want certain draft picks as their team is getting older and eventually will break up. Now I am not totally convinced by that statement, it could be true I don't know but the Lynx are not their usual self but they are struggling this season. Bench is in all sorts of trouble and their starters for some strange reason aren't hitting their shots and are committing a sh!tload of turnovers.

All star game is on 28th July, so we have some teams with big schedules and others not so bad heading into the break.

    Mystics - 4 games
    @ Dream, @ Wings, @ Liberty @ Sun

    Dream - 5 games
vs Mystics, @ Sun, vs Liberty, vs Storm, @ Sparks

    Lynx - 4 games
vs Sun, vs Fever, @ Mercury, vs Liberty (play Sparks and then Storm on  B2B straight after ASG)

    Sparks - 4 games
@Aces, vs Fever, @ Sky vs Dream

    Aces - 3 games
vs Sparks, @ Mercury, vs Fever

    Sun - 5 games
@ Lynx, vs Dream, vs Storm, @ Wings, vs Mystics

    Mercury - 4 games
@ Fever, vs Aces, vs Lynx, vs Sky

    Storm - 4 games
    @ Sky, @ Sun, @ Dream, @ Fever

    Wings - 4 games
vs Liberty, vs Mystics, @ Sky, vs Sun

I only noted the playoff teams + Aces because they are the teams that matter now with this final drive for the playoffs. Schedules for me is massive in this league and the Sun/Mystics are about to endure on a nice 4 game road trip before their little break. Tough way to close out the first part of the season.

After we return from the All-star game, we only have 3 weeks or reg season left as the reg season's final games are played on 19th August so we are literally 5 weeks away from the reg season ending already which has flown by. There are a lot of teams that still need to bang out some road teams and then others who have a favorable home schedule.

I consider the Fever, Sky and Liberty hard teams to bet on because how poor they have been this season.

Lynx have 13 games left, 3 of them are against the bottom 3 teams,

Aces have 12 games left, only 2 against bottom 3 teams

Wings have 13 left, 4 against bottom 3 teams

Sparks have 12 left, 4 against the bottom 3 teams

    Sun - 13 left, 3 against bottom 3 teams

Storm - 12 games left, 4 against bottom 3 teams

Mystics - 13 games left, only 2 against bottom 3 teams

Dream - 14 games left, 3 against bottom 3 teams

Mercury - 12 games left, 3 against bottom 3 teams

As you can see, its going to be a challenge for the Mystics. They enjoyed playing plenty of home games in the first part of the season but now they hit the road and finish with 9 road games and just 4 home games. I think they slide down the standings with that schedule.

Anyways, just rambling now but wanted to put my thoughts to paper so to speak. This next several days leading into the All-Star break is a massive part of the season for some teams trying to get a better playoff spot and for others to maintain their spot.

BOL everyone, big card today. No lines yet with Aussie books unfortunately but have a few leans already.

If they had a betting opportunity to do so, I'd bet the Aces at anything  >+140 that the Aces make the playoffs, which means the Dream or the Sun won't make it.  I expect them to go 8-4 in their remaining games to get in.

Dallas and Seattle are my top two teams in the league, but Seattle plays the next 9 out of the next 10 on the road and Dallas already has 9 losses, so whether they both end up as top two seeds is highly debatable.

I would think the top seeded team this year would have 9 or 10 losses, with the top 6 all within 2 or 3 games of each other.....it'll be wild down the stretch.

Here's one of the better high volume queries I've found....works well in the CFL as well.

    AD and  not C and (n:F or on:D) and playoffs=0 and rest<=3

The Sun would qualify tomorrow, though I don't think I'd be inclined to take them.

You're having a very good year, as are a few others.....very nice.

I would think the top seeded team this year would have 9 or 10 losses, with the top 6 all within 2 or 3 games of each other.....it'll be wild down the stretch.

Here's one of the better high volume queries I've found....works well in the CFL as well.

    AD and  not C and (n:F or on:D) and playoffs=0 and rest<=3

The Sun would qualify tomorrow, though I don't think I'd be inclined to take them.

You're having a very good year, as are a few others.....very nice.

Indigo, going to have to say I disagree with you mate on the Aces. They are pretty much a 2 girl show right now and McBride and Wilson can't always carry them. Young shows up every now and then and they may get close to 8th spot but the Sun has a huge home run ahead of them and the Dream are also looking good with their upcoming schedule especially with games at home as well.

Thanks for the CFL query, will save that to my database mate and track it and see how it wears.

Chicago Sky @ New York Liberty: Liberty -4.5

There was an image I saw after Zellous hit that buzzer beater vs the Sun that made me think straight away, that was the game that the Liberty needed to win to get them on a roll. The image basically captured the joy and happiness of the team (bench and starters) to get a win jumping around on the court. Now they do have a very slim chance of making the playoffs if the teams above them slide which is a possibility. They last time Sky came to NY, the Liberty lost in a very high scoring game. Then, the Liberty got their revenge against the Sky winning in Chicago in OT. Now I think we get the Liberty in a good spot. They need to keep winning, no doubt about that and I just have to go with my gut feel with this play because when i saw the picture 3 days ago, I automatically thought to myself, I need to take them next game no matter who it was against. Sometimes those kind of wins can really join the team together. Heck, they haven't won at their new "home" stadium since June 19th

I'd be ecstatic if I was  incorrect regarding the Sun, as I have a crumbling futures bet on them at 25:1, but their defense and team winning psyche look terrible right now, but maybe some home cooking will get their mojo back.   They have frittered away a ton of second half leads, that I almost don't want to watch them in the fourth quarter.  Courtney Williams is the wildcard for that team.  If they were to win tomorrow perhaps they'd be primed to go on a run.

Players like Swords, Hamby and  Young, though not overally skilled,  are winning type players for the Aces.  It will be interesting to see how McBride and Beard match up in tomorrow's game as well as Young and Parker....should be a slugfest.

We'll see how it works out.

Good luck, ADU.  I know you deservedly have many fans/tailers.

However, I took CHI because of this query:

    AD and p:LAD and p:margin < -5.5 and pp:L

    ATS:   77-45-1  (3.49, 63.1%)

Full disclosure:  I believe I am just 20-17 (54.05%) in my last 37 selections.  I am just an average handicapper in the CFL and WNBA, both sports at which I am basically a neophyte.

Thanks for the compliment, but your experience certainly prevailed today.

Congratulations, and I am glad I lost only one unit.

"ADU" also make me think of Away Dogs and Under, which definitely describes the majority of my WNBA wagers in this, my initial year of WNBA betting.

How bad has eastern conf been this season? they've only won 30.0% games versus opposite conference:

    Overall: 18-42 (30.0%)

    Home: 12-19 (38.7%)

    Away: 6-23 (20.7%)

Remaining 2 games is still pending

Cheers all, was nice to see the Liberty put  a solid performance like that together. They have the players and talent, just need the chemistry.

CKattar - mate you know how high I am on the Sun team. They will get it together and with their strong home schedule, they will finish top 4 at least IMHO.

Dogbite- I never like to label a league as an ‘unders’ or ‘dogs’ league so to speak because it all changes with rule changes, speed of game, athleticism of the players and also the new age of this crazy 3 point shooting like GSW. One thing I will say about the WNBA is that plenty of home favs win, they may not cover but they do win at a high rate.
