I came across an outstanding Excel file with a bunch of auto-update web queries to Statfox and other data providers, and it appears to be a great formula for predicting MLB outcomes. His formula is a five step process that considers and then weighs the last 3 win/loss, runs per game, runs allowed, starter era, starter era last 3, bullpen era, bullpen rpg, all variations for home/away, rpg last 10 games,and more. It's very well done and I'd like to get in touch with the creator. Does anyone know this guy? The excel creator is John C. Dunning, which may or may not be the right guy.

I used to have a spreadsheet which I downloaded and got the data from the web but I lost my computer and never found the program again, I would appreciate if you tell me how to gogle so I could find out the spreadsheet you are talking about... thanks in advance..

I haven't found anyone who knows anything about it, and the spreadsheet performs a call-out function to sites that are no longer functional. If I can't find the creator, I'll have it rebuilt.

Don't know John C Dunning, but reconize the formula's..They are the key ingredients to successful MLB handicapping. Understanding their use, and how to incorperate the formula's into a low-risk, high "value" system would require experience, and knowledge of MLB.. what you have outlined is enough to go forward on your own, you have the tools, now utilize them to your advantage..research, and an understanding of sabermetric baseball stats are essential/AKA base_runs..Their is a capper in the baseball forum with the screen name 'barrnn' who uses these formula's on a daily basis, and they are documented to be successful, with variables added. Getting in touch with Dunning would be a plus, however, this form of cappin' is the general outline, and has been around for "many" years. The concept has been rejuvinated, and put into form by Dunning, and others in his field of system research. No need to purchase anything from anyone. Everything is right in front of you, magic word, research..

Hi guys, the file was sent to me by a friend last year and I forgot about it as my HD was damaged. I didn't come across it again until recently. Obviously it would be nice to know what the historical performance is to see whether it's worth rebuilding the formulas. The current call-out functions have to be completely replaced and all the queries redone.

There are a lot of links that have to be updated and some reformatting, so it's taking a long time just to get it ready to use. Only then will we know if it's any good.
