Really great looking card today as some new managers take the field to try and prove to their fan base that the mediocre World Cup performances weren't warranted. Though in Portugals case they fell to the eventual champions so you can't really pin too much blame on their ex-coach Roberto Martinez. Alas, thats why they play the matches!
GERMANY TIE OR NO BET (-120)...BIG PLAY!!!: Simply put, Jurgen Klopp does NOT drop his first game as manager of a new team. Maybe that will change with the national team, but he was a coach heralded who left on his terms and now returns to his home country to try and right the ship. On the other side of the field, the Netherlands had a solid run in the World Cup but fell short of their own expectations and have brought Xavi in to try and change their fortunes. The problem is, I don't think Xavi is that awesome of a coach and is certainly inferior to Klopp. So much so that Xavi has already created controversy dropping in-form forward Danyel Malen from the squad. Sure, the Dutch are playing at home but Germany have lost only one of their last nine away matches against European opponents (W6, D2) and have the better overall H2H record (W18, D18, L12) against the Dutch having also lost just one of the last seven meetings (W3, D3).
PORTUGAL FH -1 (-120):. I do very much like this play but I'm not sure on the international stage Portugal can get two FH goals to make this a big play. They will not be behind at the half though so that does make it an actual play in my book. Wales have a long list of absentees through injury and the Portuguese are almost unbeatable at home, completely unbeatable by the Welsh, and new coach Jorge Jesus is going to try and start things off strong imo. Not to mention along with Italy, the Portuguese thrive in this competition.
BTTS YES NORWAY/DENMARK (-170)..BIG PLAY!!!: I don't see any way that Norway loses this game EXCEPT that they have been second fiddle to Denmark for years. But the tide has turned in Norway and after a very strong World Cup run, they return to home soil against a Denmark team that is headed in the wrong direction fast. I do think that Norway gives up goals as evidenced in the world cup but they also score a bunch, especially at home. Alexander Sorloth will be an absentee so that also kept me off of Norway but that also means...
ERLING HAALAND ANYTIME GOALSCORER (-180) & PORTUGAL FH (-240) = +120...BIG PLAY!!!: I guess this just ties a couple of the plays into one. I don't see Norway scoring and Haaland not being on the end of one of them and if I think BTTS will happen in the Scandinavian affair, I'm feeling good about Haaland being on the scoresheet in a game that matters. Portugal as mentioned above should be ahead at the half. This is a PARLAY.
