Alright, we are back! As stated during the World Cup, which was quite a great run, I will be posting as much as I can but some of these crazy early start times (I'm on PST) make it hard because I do like to see the lineups that teams seem to release only an hour or so before the game. But today has a few games I really like and a play on Arsenal I just can't see not winning.
Let me add, I stupidly went into the MLB forum and tailed some guys that just aren't hitting at the moment. So I have lost some of my bankroll that I intend to get back today, hence why I'm sharing with the forum. Either way, hope everyone reading this is as excited as I am for the new season.
REAL BETIS (+105)...ALSO USING DK "DRAWBREAKER": For those of you unfamiliar, DraftKings has a promotional reward called a "drawbreaker' which returns your money if the game ends in a draw. I am clearly posting this because I think that Betis will undoubtedly win the game considering they have lost just 2 of the last 13 H2H's with Sociedad. Neither team made a lot of changes in the transfer market but Betis has been playing very well preseason, which I think is indicative of the chemistry they sowed together last year when they finished fifth in La Liga. The one caveat, or concern, is that they will be playing their home games in another stadium while their current stadium is being renovated. That didn't affect Barcelona that much when it happened but then again Betis is not Barcelona. Betis are also unbeaten in their last 17 Friday played games and are unbeaten in their last SIX opening games, while Sociedad have only one win in their last SEVEN opening games. But as I stated, I'm not sure what a new home surrounding could do to those streaks but Betis is very well priced for an opening win.
ARSENAL FH -1 (+120): Found what I think is a little gem here on the Asian handicap. I do not see Arsenal even giving up a single goal today and they should be highly motivated in their opening home game, which they barely lose in their history. They hold an all-time competition record 45-match unbeaten home run against newly promoted teams (W40, D5) and I just don't see how Coventry will break down the Gunners, especially early. The FH line is currently -185 which I would probably play, but not post since most people would stay away from odds at that level. Had I thought Coventry would net, I could have played the FH Over 1.5 but I think this allows me to have the FH action without as much risk, and I'd take a push if it comes down to it.
As for the French game between Marseille and Strasbourg, I will say, both teams could easily win that game. Marseille have lost quite a few players from last year while not adding a ton and Strasbourg, as surprising as they were last season, faltered a bit towards the end. I'm laying off that game but if you can get a really solid line on Strasbourg plus odds might be interesting though be warned they seem to NEVER win in Marseille.
Will try and revisit the thread during the day to see if there are any comments or discussions, and I will do my best to post tomorrow AM as well. As always, tail or fade, good luck to all...
