I haven't bet in a while but I decided to put some money on Memphis -1.5
(-105) tonight. Anyone with me? I think the Grizzlies will come out
fired up after the way OKC taunted and humiliated them at the end of
Game 5. Memphis is one of the best (if not the best) 8 seeds in NBA
history and they are a young team with a lot of confidence that is
playing like it has nothing to lose.
With the disastrous flooding that happened in Memphis, the city has needed something to rally behind and they've all come together to support the Grizzlies. The Grizz have played outstanding at home all season (30-11) and in the playoffs (4-1 with the 1 loss being the 3OT game 4 loss). Meanwhile on the road OKC is just 25-16 during the regular season and 2-2 in the playoffs. OKC definitely has the best player on the floor and the better team overall but Memphis will come out and play inspired and force a game 7. |

Doyle's room is tiny, no one plays there. The DOJ is only going after the giants for now. |

I haven't posted in Covers in a while because I decided to give up sports betting and focus on playing poker. I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread so some of my points may have already been mentioned.
The DOJ shutting down the big three poker sites is more about money than anything else. At some point in the near future online Poker in the US will be legalized and regulated by the government. The events of Friday April 15 just clears the American poker market for the Vegas casinos who will soon launch their own online poker rooms that will be licensed and taxed by the government. The American government will try to squeeze out what they can from the Big 3 in this lawsuit and will then banish them from the American market. Will the DOJ look to take down the Sportsbooks next? Maybe, but I don't think so. The online poker market is way bigger than the sports betting market. If you don't believe me go to pokerscout and look at how many people played on the big sites before Black Friday, and how many people worldwide are playing even after what happened. I could be wrong but I don't think there's enough money in it for the government to try to take down these sports sites. The DOJ did not even go after some of the smaller poker sites (like Merge, Bodog, etc.), because they just aren't worth their time. While online poker will one day be legal again in the US, the same cannot be said of online sports betting. It is generally accepted that poker is a game of skill while sports betting is not. I'm sure many on the forum would disagree with that but that is the view of most people and that will not change. Some of the sports betting sites may stop accepting US customers for fear that they will end up being prosecuted but I think the underground online sports betting market will continue to exist and not change too much. |

It's gonna be really close to a pickem... The lines don't overreact that much. If I had to guess a number I would say Jets -1. No way this line even hits Jets +3.

Why take the ML when you can lay just 1.5 points and save a little juice? Boy am I regretting taking spread instead of money line right now. It was a 5 cent difference at my book at the time I placed my wager.

You have awful money management. Good luck anyways, but putting 10 units on Boise away from the blue turf is not bright. |

It is a Run down your throat gameplan that eats the clock. Ravens +9 under 42 Ravens secondary is banged up and not deep at all. Ed Reed out, as well as a couple of Baltimore's starting corners. The Jets have the best D in football, one of the top O Lines, and multiple weapons on offense. Let the public pound the Ravens, I'm still liking the Jets at home. |

Indi -2.5 just smells like a sucker public bet. But it's nearly impossible to bet against Peyton when there playing the Texans. The Colts are 15-1 in there last 16 against their division rival Texans and until the Texans can show that they can beat the Colts, I'm going to keep betting Indi.

All you do is talk trash, and you have no idea what you're saying. Give me one college that has produced multiple elite NFL quarterbacks. You can't, because it's just so tough to make it at the next level. Matt Leinart may be a bust, but Matt Cassel and Mark Sanchez haven't been given enough time to make a decision on them, and they both show a lot of promise. Sure Sanchez's numbers were awful last year, but he was one of the least experienced QB's in the history of the NFL (started a total of 1 year at USC). |

I agree, I like the Reds today as well. According to my numbers, the line should be higher, even with this game being in Pittsburgh. The low line does make me a little leery, but I still think the Reds are worth a play in this spot.
BOL on your play. |

This brings back memories of Grandma Capper (I think that's what you called it).
But the card actually looks pretty good today. BOL |

It's not that big a deal, it's just one game. I don't know why you guys are jumping all over him calling him a fraud.
I'm interested in how you run your system sabermatrician. How do you come up with these numbers? |

Just stick with ML. RL has higher juice and that will catch up to you long term.
