His point is, if you're 16-6 betting -300 favorites you are down money.  The goal of gambling is to win money, not have a winning record.

That said, I don't think you only play -300 favorites and you're likely up money on the year.  If so, keep it up.

Why would you even say something like that?  

I think books sometimes make it a cheap line to confuse bettors.  If SD is -140 I think it would induce more action on SD, confirming our belief SD has a better chance to win.  The public loves betting favorites. 

But at a pick'em?  Now we stop and wonder why tf is the line so cheap?  And we start over thinking it and maybe pass on it altogether.  And certainly don't bet the farm on it.  One of the psychological tools sportsbooks employ imo.  But since none of us really know what sets and moves lines, I could be way off.  Just my theory.

It's been a few weeks since posting.  Hope everyone is making 

Today I like:

TEX +1.5 +105 (1/1.05) Six players on Texas bat .300 or better vs. Skubal and both Skubal starts vs. Texas last year were one run games.

SF ML -110 (1.1/1) The Twins being a "good" home team is fake news.  Sure they're 8-1 at home vs. teams with a losing record, but against teams that are .500 or better?  They're 4-5. 

MIL ML -115 (1.15/1) Better pitcher and better team for a cheap price?  I'm in.  The line makes me wonder if I'm taking the bait but win or lose, I'm biting.

CHC F5 +0.5 -125 (1.25/1) I think the Cubs have a slight edge in this one, but I want nothing to do with the Cubbies bullpen late in the game.

HOU -1.5 +115 (1/1.15) When Brown starts, Houston either loses or wins on the RL.  Over the last 19 games Houston has won with Brown starting, 16 of them were by 2+ runs.  So if I like Houston to win, I'm taking a shot at the RL.

I also lean Seattle but I have a big enough card already.  BOL on your plays 

People forget the Twins are 17-20 on the year.  Everyone acting like this is the Dodgers vs. the Rockies.  Taking a shot on the dog after the Twins already won the series isn't the worst idea.
