I wouldn't get upset about it if I thought it was on the up and up.  I've seen too many "plays" like this to feel like it's a fair sport to wager on.  It's fine if people disagree.  Keep wagering whatever you want with your money.  I'm taking my money elsewhere.

Why would I be back?  If I think it isn't a fair sport to wager on I'm done.  Plenty of other sports.  I'll stick with MLB and NHL.  NFL is a joke.

A 53 yard FG in Denver is like a 45 yard attempt anywhere else.  The only reason not to try it, up one score, is because of the spread.  Have a great NFL season everyone.  I'm not wagering another cent on this.

His point is, if you're 16-6 betting -300 favorites you are down money.  The goal of gambling is to win money, not have a winning record.

That said, I don't think you only play -300 favorites and you're likely up money on the year.  If so, keep it up.

Why would you even say something like that?  

I think books sometimes make it a cheap line to confuse bettors.  If SD is -140 I think it would induce more action on SD, confirming our belief SD has a better chance to win.  The public loves betting favorites. 

But at a pick'em?  Now we stop and wonder why tf is the line so cheap?  And we start over thinking it and maybe pass on it altogether.  And certainly don't bet the farm on it.  One of the psychological tools sportsbooks employ imo.  But since none of us really know what sets and moves lines, I could be way off.  Just my theory.
