We are in an election year, and the Republicans are having mud-slinging debates, with sophomoric dirtiness that has never been seen before. The Dems have 2 candidates, one is so far left he is about to fall off the earth, and the other one is possibly the least likable politician ever. Yet there is no debate amongst the Covers members who think they know their politics.

There is a tremendous difference between nature1970 and SportsFan9698. SF is constantly vitriolic and frequently resorts to puerile name-calling. It is no surprise to see him stuck in the Penalty Box on more than one occasion. Nature1970 is always calm and level-headed in his posts and never resorts to vitriol and invective.

what us conspiracy theorists ratings got the clinton supporterd in a fox hole shell shock mode or the reality that bernie who been washington is now deemed an outsider.... but trump clinton election is now over a supreme court position as well as the presidency .....
i stated hillary pulled this one off beautifully. got scalia in such a compromising position (the mexican hooker doesnt exist)

Yes WSC likes to box posters that make a clear argument for the conservative side. This is fact.
As a non-partisan independent IMO the problem is lack of critical and intelligent thought processes from some posters. It makes it difficult to have any enthusiasm to post in here anymore.

The Scalia death is eerily similar to Matt Simmons death. Both had heart attacks, both were major players in their field, and both died out in the middle of nowhere, in small towns where they could have easily been targeted. JMO

Matt, as a long time reader of this forum I can say there is some truth in what you wrote.
I believe that is because the people who tend to express their views with the most passion are those who are far right, or far left.
Those same people only get their news from sources who are similarly far to one side.
Those political sources purposely attempt to rile up the masses with slanted views on everything and anything, political or not.
The end result is the animated characters who post here with "strong convictions of their own"
I would imagine that no one on this site knows if I am a Republican, Democrat, Independent, or Communist.
I do not get all my news from FoxNews, nor MSNBC.
I agree and disagree with both parties.
I am at times conservative, at times liberal, and at times right there in the middle. It is a case by case process.
My views and opinions are not dictated by any one party. They are my thoughts based upon my beliefs, which are mostly learned from living life ... and i've been living life for a while now

I'm not familiar with the story of Matt Simmons.
Having just done approx 6 minutes of research, I feel I am now fully capable of commenting on his life, his beliefs, and his death (ok, so maybe I'm not yet qualified, I was just trying to fit in here and act like I know everything)
In my 6 minutes of research, the only thought I have thus far is that Simmons was wrong regarding the price of oil, at or near the time of his death.
I will research further, and then probably keep my thoughts to myself

On the issues, what is it that the dems do that you don't agree with that makes you ( stick towards the middle )?
For me, I'm more conservative and not shy about it, but I would like to see people on the conservative side veer more to the center on immigration. A path to "legal status" is very reasonable in my view.
