CNN reports that a federal judge halts Trump administration illegal and politically motivated layoffs of federal workers during government shutdown.  In past shutdowns, no president dared to layoff thousands of workers.  Trump contempt for the rule of law is among characteristics of fascism.

Trump immigration policies may shrink US work force by 15 million jobs over 10 years according to National foundation for American policy.  This would lower economic growth and raise federal debt.  Previously, US labor department warns that Trump policies could disrupt agriculture, leading to food shortages and higher prices.  Meanwhile US chamber of commerce sues Trump administration over illegal $100,000 visa fee harmful to small businesses.

Next month, millions of Americans could miss benefits from Supplemental food assistance program.  This would be the first time ever that SNAP benefits are at risk during a government shutdown.  Trump administration refuses to release emergency funding approved by congress.  His big ugly bill has the biggest spending cuts to SNAP in US history to pay for billionaire tax cuts.  Polls show most Americans blame republicans for government shutdown.

According to Associated press, Trump administration is weakening protections for Americans with medical debt.  Prohibiting states from removing medical debt from credit reports.  This would increase difficulty for people to get loan, credit card, rental housing or job.  Nationwide, almost 100 million people have medical debt.

TWO federal judges have ruled that the Trump Administration must continue paying SNAP benefits during the shutdown.
 
These rulings make clear what we’ve known all along: the Administration CAN and MUST act to ensure November benefits go out by tapping the contingency fund Congress already set aside for emergencies.
 
This *DOESN’T* necessarily mean SNAP benefits will be available immediately. With this Administration, who knows how long it will take (or if they’ll even follow the order).
 
But for the 42 million people who rely on SNAP—including 170,000 here in Maine—this is undoubtedly hopeful news.

What makes it even more insane is that the House Appropriations Committee—Democrats *and* Republicans—created this contingency fund PRECISELY FOR SITUATIONS LIKE THIS!

Axios report that coalition of labor unions (representing federal workers) has filed a lawsuit against Trump administration for discriminatory hiring practices.  Under the law, violation of free speech rights to recruit based on loyalty to Trump instead of qualifications.  Federal public service is supposed to be non-partisan.  Ironic that DEI hiring is fairer and based far more on merit.

Wallstreet journal condemns Trump proposed $2000 tariffs dividend as a bad idea.  Dividend could cost $600 billion per year which is double the estimated revenue from tariffs according to Committee for responsible federal budget.  Government would need to borrow money to increase deficit and debt.
