Tea Party candidate gets crushed by Duck Dynasty

So you admit you know nothing about Duck Dynasty and Phil Robertson, yet you somehow know that he is not talking about divorce and adultery, and other real family values? 

Look at one episode.  Family values from beginning to end.

He has never mentioned homosexuality in the show.  They barely mention religion, other than a family prayer they say at the end of each episode as the eat dinner together. 

All the show depicts is family values, and togetherness, all together the most positive show I have ever seen on television. 

 

i'm just going on the article and his recent statements, which is what this thread is about recently. 

if there is more to it and he's actually decrying the sinfulness of divorce and adultery more than hom*osexualtiy at a ratio of 100,000 - 1 or so, which i think would be the appropriate figure given their respective negative impacts on "family values", then my apologies to Mr. Robertson (Phil, not Pat).

Earlier Wednesday, Roberston responded to his critics in an attempt to further explain his controversial statements.

“I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior,” he said in a statement sent to FOX411. “My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together…”

Robertson referenced the Bible when talking to GQ about his thoughts about homosexuality and sinning.

“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong... Sin becomes fine,” he said. “Start with guy behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men....”

sounds like this guy was a lot more fun when he was into sex, drugs and rock n roll rather than whether other people are happy or not or having premarital sex.

It is funny that one man's view on sin is causing such a stir (especially among so many that are not religious). 

He did not condemn gays, or spread hatred, or intolerance.  Quite the opposite.  :   "However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

and really what he did is repeat Corinthians 6:9-10

yes, at the end of the day, the duck dynasty guy can say whatever he wants and a&e can fire or suspend whomever they want.

this must be in the g*y hating section of the bible because again, i almost never hear these "good christians" going forth and teaching about the sins of premarital sex, divorce and adultery.

He did teach about pre marital sex in the same comment he is being criticized for. 

Except for the calling homosexuality a sin part. And equating it with bestiality.

What he said wasn't so terrible when compared with other homophobic statements.

But taking the statements for what they are, why isn't he also stating that premarital sex is a sin (he mentioned sleeping around was, but not just the singular act). What about adultery?

No matter the justification attempt, when one designates the act of consenting adults as a sin, their words are going to be subjected to scrutiny, no matter how many times you continue to quote a different portion of his statements.

again, more or less he was quoting the verse i mentioned...and adultery is in the verse. I'm not defending him or his words, i am saying he can say whatever the hell he wants. He can also take the consequences of expressing his freedom of speech.

show me one of these vocal "family values" guys who give at least equal time and criticism to people who have premarital sex, commit adultery and/or get divorced as happy people and i will glady admit that not all of these vocal "good christians" who tell us how moral they are and how immoral homosexuality is are not hypocrites. 

even in this guy's comments, divorce isn't mentioned and he mentions premarital sex but doesn't expand on it like he does homosexuality.

we could have a running thread like you and don have for the gun issue.  i post every time a politician or public person or preacher goes off on happy people but ignores premarital sex, divorce and/or adultery and you post every time one of them goes off on on adultery, divorce and/or premarital sex and ignores the gays. 

Again, he knew what he was doing, I guarantee you he couldn't care less about not being on the show...

Sleeping around is adultery if you take the fundamentalist Christian view.  There is not much distinction between promiscuity and adultery. 

He shares the same views as the Pope, the Dali Llama, and has much more moderate views than any Islamic leader I have ever seen or heard talk about the subject.

If Phil Robertson was black would he have been let go by A&E?
