Cuomo was just letting the far left know hes there man for 2016.

This will never ever stop bad people from killing, if killing is what they want to do.

Just wait until more killers start using bombs instead of guns, then were gonna have a real problem

Banning certain forms of weapons is not an outright ban on firearms (plural). And if you re-read my post, I never stated nor believed that the new laws will eliminate such tragedies. The question is whether they can make it more difficult to obtain weapons which may reduce them.

    Don Juan.

I took an oath as you did to defend the constitution.

What happened. Did you just decide to go AWOL on that duty?

I do not remember what you said about your service. We're you NG? What was your MOS? Where were you stationed during the war?

No! are you taking bath salts again ?

A ban on guns will not take away the guns of 10's of millions of the armed population in America. Thus resulting in former law abiding citizens to be labled as criminals .

Sorry but this excuse is garbage, you and most others rationalize something off the fear of others having guns.

Aside from others having guns, you have to address the issue and not have it back stopped from OTHERS having guns. That does not rationalize or minimize the issue.

WSC, no reason to be edgy.

I'm not saying. that I have fear of others having guns ..in fact the more non-violent gun owners the merrier.

I'm saying if guns were banned and it became against the law to own/have one ..many - millions - of gun owning, law abiding owners before the banning..  would not turn their guns in ..thus making it a crime to own a gun.

Yes, in the true sense they would have to be tried in court, convicted and found guilty to be called criminal. That's why I said " labled as criminals " and not criminals.

Can anybody say Timothy McVeigh A very very patriotic(sick also) AND VERY, VERY angry ex veteran who took out all his ANGER one morning in Oklahoma City, totally unemotional but extremely calculated at retribution towards the FEDERAL government for overstepping and infringing on fellow Americans 2nd Amendment rights.

This just came out today after I posted by comment  -Thursday, January 17, 2013 by: J. D. Heyes

New York gun ban instantly transforms law-abiding citizens into criminals.

The problem; however, is that the legislation immediately transforms law-abiding New Yorkers into criminals because provisions of the law are retroactive; in other words, what Cuomo has signed is an ex post facto law, a measure that criminalizes someone for something that was legal when they did it. (For the record, ex post facto laws are prohibited by the U.S. Constitution, under Article 1, Sect. 9 and Article 1, Sect.10, the latter section of which applies specifically to states.)

For those you have a hard time comprehending what posted ....

It has also made Cops criminals, because they were too stupid to include a provision allowing law enforcement a waiver.

Alcohol and cigarettes kill more people a year then guns do.  Why not get rid of both of these things and you will save tons of lives every year.

Sorry don but citizens need to be allowed to have weapons to keep the govt in check.  Once the govt can get rid of weapons, then its citizens have no way to keep our govt in check. They can say and do anything they want to us then.  This is exactly what all the politicians want, total control over all of us, so they could turn our country into a dictatorship and we cant do jack shitttttttttt.

Wake up and smell the damn coffee.

If you want to live in a bubble and be a damn sissy in life, wanting the govt to constantly protect you, then go dig and underground cave and live the rest of your life there.

Bad things happen in society, they always have and they always will, control freak politicians cant change that.

Maybe this law will finally be the wake up call for the voters to get rid of every single one of them, before they have a chance to grandfather themselves in for life.

Everytime theres a tragedy, we cant be passing laws that have an effect on law abidding citizens.

Your out to lunch don, going thru life with blinders on

you make some good points here...  I wonder if this thread is what you got boxed for?

Gun control is both ineffective and a political loser.

New York lost nearly 2.9 million residents to other states between 1990 and 2010 – the biggest domestic migration outflow, relative to population, of any state during that 20-year period.

Still no answer from you on the slaughter of 20 little children

    Don,

the shooting didn't happen in NY, had nothing to do with pistols that hold 10 round magazines, and in fact happened in a state with an Assault Weapons ban, gun registration, gun sale background checks via the FBI instant background check system, and gun sale waiting periods.

So obviously more laws have nothing to do with it.
