Alcohol and cigarettes kill more people a year then guns do.  Why not get rid of both of these things and you will save tons of lives every year.

Sorry don but citizens need to be allowed to have weapons to keep the govt in check.  Once the govt can get rid of weapons, then its citizens have no way to keep our govt in check. They can say and do anything they want to us then.  This is exactly what all the politicians want, total control over all of us, so they could turn our country into a dictatorship and we cant do jack shitttttttttt.

Wake up and smell the damn coffee.

If you want to live in a bubble and be a damn sissy in life, wanting the govt to constantly protect you, then go dig and underground cave and live the rest of your life there.

Bad things happen in society, they always have and they always will, control freak politicians cant change that.

Maybe this law will finally be the wake up call for the voters to get rid of every single one of them, before they have a chance to grandfather themselves in for life.

Everytime theres a tragedy, we cant be passing laws that have an effect on law abidding citizens.

Your out to lunch don, going thru life with blinders on

You all are the clueless and selfish too, because you and the others are always thinking about yourselves when you want more powerful weapons.. paranoid.

The gov't is not kept in check by assualt weapons and hand grenades, or it would have been overrun through the last century. Tommy guns were banned in the 1920s and 30s when Mobs guys were slaughtering police. The gov't didn't take over your property.

GET A CLUE AND MATURE WILL YA< FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, THEY ARE SLAUGHTERING OUR CHILDREN !

STOP BEING SO SELFISH AND GREEDY.

I know you weren't specifically talking to me but I've answered this question in numerous threads.

Have the local government tell taxpayers we are going to raise your taxes $1 a year. That dollar will specifically go to an armed guard, create a law enforcement position, or subsidize an off duty cop's security detail.

The entire dollar will go to the position. None of it will go to administrators at city hall or some other bureaucratic position. Put it on a ballot and let the voters vote on it. After what happened at Sandy Hook I think a bill like that will pass overwhelmingly. If more than a dollar is needed then make it $2.

There is no solution to stop tragedies 100% of the time but this will:
    1) At least have someone there to possibly prevent the tragedy
    2) Make someone think twice about going on a shooting spree
because they will now know someone there is packing.

Putting a sign near a school saying "Gun Free Zone" will do about as much good as putting a sign in the ocean telling sharks not to bite humans.

GET A CLUE AND MATURE WILL YA< FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, THEY ARE SLAUGHTERING OUR CHILDREN !

STOP BEING SO SELFISH AND GREEDY.

Sadly I think the answer is you can't stop it 100% of the time. If some lunatic wants to commit a heinous deed like shooting a classroom full of children it is a good possibility it will happen.

Taking away guns will not stop it, an armed security guard will not stop it. Unfortunately at some point in time this will happen again if the person has the determination to do it, especially with the copy cat crazies out there.

Don are you really that friggin dumb?  You cant stop it.  Sorry but its just part of living in a human society.  Taking away all guns will not stop people from killing people, if thats what they want to do.

Your really foolish to believe that no more children will die if they take away guns.

also your so clueless as to why the govt is passing these laws, its down right comical.

You really think they are passing these laws because they care about a bunch of kids who got killed?  Think again pal, they are using this tragdey to get the guns away from law abidding citizens so that they can have complete and total control over all of us and we will never be able to do anything about it.

Its just like the health care bill, that bill was written years and years ago, waiting for the right President and right time for the jerkoffs to ram it down our throats.  Thats what this gun stuff is about extreme liberals like you have been waiting for big events to happen, so you can go for your gun grab.

All these politicians are nothing but friggin hypocrites who dont care about the people, they only care about themselves having power and controlling all of us with whatever they tell us to do.

Its time you put your big boy pants on and stop being afraid of your own shadow and needing the govt to protect you from the bogey man.

Also why did you skip my questions.

why doest the govt ban alcohol, cigarettes and cars? all 3 kill more people then guns every year.

Lets just ban every single thing that kills people.  Then we can live in this fantasyland you so dream of.

Don are you concerned about all the weapons our govt sells around the world, that ends up killing kids? I doubt you lose sleep over that.

Your always gonna have problems in society, thats just the way it is don.  Move underground if your so afraid

If gun violence was breaking out all over the place between law abidding gun owners, then i would say theres a serious problem, but its not the law abidding gun owners out there having wars with each other.  Its the few nutjobs, who get these ideas of going out and killing people, which is next to impossible to stop.

Don do you really think if i decided i wanted to kill you, this gun ban would stop me?  Cause it wouldnt if thats what i had my mind set on doing.  But be sure that gun ban would be stopping you from having the ability to stop me.

Wake the hell up don, these bans do jack shitttttttttt accept lead this country down a path of total dictatorship, with none of us having the ability to stop it.

now go read your govt manual how they will help and protect you from all the things in society you are so afraid of

And one other thing Don, dont ever call yourself an American union member again, because your a disgrace of a union member.

You say you served in the military. Why?  Did you do it so you could help your govt become a total dictaorship over the people?  Thanks for nothing

Furthermore, I don't think you have the balls to serve, because have ECourage, because I can guarantee that you would never say that to any soldier, face to face.

    Play nice.

Restrictions on guns will never prevent ALL tragedies like this from occuring. That statement is completely true. What they will do is to make it more difficult to obtain guns for any individual.

When something is illegal to obtain, it makes it less likely for the person to obtain it without oversight. That statement is inarguable. Lets use drugs as the comparison. If cocaine was legal without restrictions, a person would go to the corner market and purchase it. With restrictions or illegalities, that person who is attempting to obtain it takes risks (may be found in possession, may purchase from undercover agent, etc.)

As far as I understand, the NY law is a regulatory one for most weapons, not an outright ban (with a few exceptions). I'm not suggesting I agree with it, but it is hard to argue that having restrictions makes multiple Sandy Hooks less likely. As has been pointed out, nothing will ever fully prevent them from happening.

I've seen soldiers take a weapon away from people staring them right in the face, and kick their as with it.

Most of weapons mongers feel empowered hiding behind them, they are wimps anyway. So they practice shooting helpless little squrriel and deer with 30 clip magazines, or a 2 mile scope while hiding in a tree, wimps.

No Don i wasnt talking about all the other men and women who served in the military, i was talking about you and you only, so stop trying to twist my words. I have no respect for guys like you.

Did you serve in the military to help your country and citizens or did you serve in the military so you could one day help all these control freak politicians crap all over its citizens.  Military people defend its citizens and what this country was founded on.  My guess Don, is you spent your time in the military hiding behind a desk, cause its obvious you are afraid of guns.

Far as e-courage think again pal. Go run into burning building for 25 years, then come back and talk to me about courage puppy dog.

And like i said, dont call yourself a union man, because you are a disgrace to every person who has ever belonged to a union.

also am sure you are a disgrace to all past and present military people.

Guys like you need to live in a bubble and be protected by the govt from every bad thing that happens in life, because you dont know how to help yourself.

When i leave my house everyday, i hope i get back home safely, but if i dont, thats the way it goes.  Its just the pit falls of living in society.

Bad things are always gonna happen daily somewhere in our country.

lastly its amazing how you ignore my question about why dont we ban cigarettes, cars, alcohol and every other thing that kills more people then guns a year?  Its like listening to crickets waiting for another stupid reply from you.

Oh and stop acting like tough guy, because your not

and Don, i dont smoke pot, so you better think up a new response.

as clueless as you are why our govt is doing this, maybe you should start smoking pot, might grow some brain cells for you.

This bill is not about the kids that got killed, its about politicians wanting total dictator power over all of us. Shame on every single one of them for using the killing of children to create more power for themselves.

Its funny Obama is going have more people with guns guarding him and his family on monday, then any other President in the history of this country.

If you were a true military man you would be mad as hell about our govt taking our weapons away, because thats what men and women in the military have died for.  Protecting the rights of its citizens.

Now go back down to your underground cave before the boogeyman gets you

DJ, it basically is an outright ban in ny state, because after yesterday you can no longer buy those type of weapons.  Sure if you got them, your fine. But if a law abidding person now decides next week they want to own, they cant.  Politicians have zero right to control peoples lives with laws like this, they arent God.  Also they passed that bill without the 3 days of public comment, who do these politicians think they are, to by pass ways things are supposed to be done. Cuomo was just letting the far left know hes there man for 2016.

This will never ever stop bad people from killing, if killing is what they want to do.

Just wait until more killers start using bombs instead of guns, then were gonna have a real problem
