So he was minding his own business.....but had to walk for at least 10 minutes with a security officer follwing him (a 17 year old could easily walk a mile in 10 minutes), in a neighbor that he didnt live in.....to get skittles and ice tea.....hmmmm

Asked "what are you doing around here" .....didnt respond with "I am walking home from the store sir"....instead....."why you following me"......Perhaps because thats his job? Maybe he saw him "take refuge from the rain" and do something he shouldnt, or he saw him come out of a place he didnt belong.....

Something isnt right. Or is it just me?

'Hockey Teeth' may not be the only thing missing above the neckline when it comes to this poster.

Most commenters have had a say in this thread, but at least they probably read the original post before they did so. Worse, they would have only had to read the first few sentences to get an answer the question (likely typed with a snicker and gleeful finger taps) in the quote box.

Unfortunately for some, not only do you have to repeat things, but you have t o s p e l l i t o u t v e r y s l o w l y so they understand it (or hope they do at least).

I described the term 'race riots' as 'mass civil disobedience' with local police in cooperation with the media looking for a lead story, to be one about protests and marches (some of which are already occurring) not one with pitchforks, torches, rocks and nooses in hand by out of control mobs (which some blacks today can still speak about with clarity from yesteryear as they witnessed it). 

But again, Hockey Teeth is a guy who is all too willing to absolve anyone white in this case, including the police who are extending this tragedy well beyond the bounds of reason.

So he is quick to point out the 'riots' (i.e. his perception of out of control black mobs as we discussed) and that the Black community would 'fight' the ______ community, as though there is a target. 

Well the target in this case is a police force who fans the flames of racism by devaluing a black life, as we have long known them to do. One needn't look further than the drug war to find the #1 target of their surveillance and incarceration. 

That will result in OUTRAGE as it is starting to, as the police sit on their hands and fail to make an arrest. Despite Zimmerman's deeply racist intent in the shooting, a man who is now being reported as a White Hispanic (adding to the potential misidentification of his race/ethnicity or furthermore, complete lack thereof) as of 5 hours ago (see third paragraph), the black community wouldn't 'fight' the Hispanic community in Florida because ZImmerman alone is now Half-Hispanic/Half-White.

They want justice. They want an arrest. Until the police provide it, this will continue to boil over into the simmering mess it has already become.

You make lot of assumptions Scalabrine. I haven't absolved anyone in this case, even you can see that.You insult anyone with a view that doesn't jive with yours. You have some serious issues, narcissism being foremost among them. You are prone to violence even going so far as to threaten to kick people in the face with a pair of Timberlands (Doc Martins ugly sister). Over 95% of the U.S. population speaks English, but since the United States is the "Land of the Free" you are correct that there isn't an "Official" Language, but only 12 to 15% of the population of the United States speaks Spanish.

If in the United States you are considered "Hispanic" you are a minority in this country. I am not exactly sure what you keep making reference to the U.S. census for.

Hispanic is the more Politically correct term when referring to the ethnic origin of a generalized group of people that come from colonized Spanish countries. Those people in the United States are a minority.

If you are born in Spain you are considered Spanish or European. Pau Gasol is white because he is European.

It's just you.

First of all, the fat white guy wasn't a security officer and that wasn't his job.  A big strange dude was following him around as he was trying to get away, it seems that 'why are you following me' is a perfectly appropriate response'.  Either that or 'get the fuck off my ass, fucker'.

In a the most technical sense, according to US Census Bureau, you are correct. 

I have read the US census and filled one out like we all should have not too long ago and what you are saying is on the census.  

"Hispanic" is not a race. That is important. For simplicity, in this conversation, it is not a stretch to call it an 'ethnicity' (although not technically correct) because many here understand that generality. We choose not to say "Half-central American Indian decedent" because that is long and drawn out and because people understand the way we are saying it here for the most part, or at least the spirt of the label, which is not derogatory or insulting in any way (not that you were saying it was).

Just so Train understands what country he lives in, in the United States of America you DO NOT have to ANSWER ANYONE who questions you in this manner.

Furthermore, you don't even have to answer THE POLICE. That is why they used commands like "Stop!" and don't ask questions that prompt a response.

Then again, if you are being followed by someone who looks suspicious, "get the fuck off my ass" isn't a bad choice of words either.

Ok, I can't believe I just read straight through 11 pages of this shit.  I told myself I would stop reading Scal's threads, but for whatever reason, I decided to open this one.  As much as I can't stand Scalabrine, and get annoyed by his insistent stance on prejudices against blacks in about every facet of society... I'm starting to see his point a little. 

Do I agree with him necessarily on this particular topic?  I don't know yet, b/c I'm unsure if I truly believe that his intentions are directed at the police.  He says that he would have started this thread if he had known that Zimmerman was Hispanic.  I can't really believe that, based on his history of posting about injustices against blacks by "white America."  One thing I do know is that Scalabrine is definitely an intelligent/informed individual.  I know this by reading through many of his previous posts about race relations.  He has a very extensive vocabulary and wide comprehension of current events and past history alike.  He is also very proud and strong in his convictions... but also stubborn.  Which is why his underlying motivation behind starting this thread will probably not be admitted or even recognized by himself for that matter.

But after reading the first few pages and seeing some of the derogatory comments toward blacks in general, I can see where he gets some of his ammunition for spewing his hate.  There were many unwarranted attacks/stereotypes directed at the black community that contributed nothing to the discussion.  So, as much as I disagree with Scal on many of his postions on inequality between blacks and whites, I see where he gets his talking points.  They're directly from the mouths of white Americans.  I recognize that racism/discrimination still exists in America and in the world, but I disagree with Scalabrine on many of his threads.  For some of you that chose to disagree with him in this specific thread, not only do you recognize that racism still exists, you seem to be an advocate of it.

Is this thread about race or about the crime (err "incident") that took place in Florida.  This story should be more about the dangers of concealed carry and "stand your ground" laws than about race.

Thought he was hispanic. Second, if the kid had some respect he would probably still be alive. Lastly, how does a 17 year old not out run a "fat white guy".

You dont have to answer, that is true. However, bad attitude usually yields bad results. A 17 year old kid shouldnt talk to people like that. Hes a kid. I was taught to say "sir" and show some respect.

Thats why our country is going down the toilet. Kids are assholes so we just say they have ADD and give them aderol. Respect is gone. Then there are guys like you trying to blame everyone else. You are focusing on the symptoms, not the problem.

He wasn't pulled over.  Zimmerman was not law enforcement.  To Martin, he was probably some big weird ugly dude that was stalking him for no apparent reason.  'Why are you following me' is what I have said if I was in a nice mood.

there was a cop once that stopped a girl who was walking late to school. the cop wanted the girl into the patrol car but she said no. so he pretty much forced her into the car and didnt give her a ride to school. 3 hours of wasted time.
