Does anyone actually believe ticket, food, and advertising sales for few home games pay for all those multi-million-dollar salaries for players and people working for the organization?

@jpot34
I certainly hope not. I personally don't not believe the loss of Baker Mayfield should net 3 points in the 2H of a game that saw 38 in the 1H.

@phillies73
There's money on both sides. The NFL is merely a bad product now because no one plays in the preseason and no one practices anymore. Teams are full of stupid players, bad coaches, and analytics determine what they do most of the time. Dallas was stupid for not kicking a field goal with 3 minutes left in the game.

Some good comments in here. Saying its rigged puts in some people's minds that both teams are in on it.
They dont have to be. The games are massaged in the direction they want it to go by referree calls and no calls. There's no dispute in my opinion, its so obvious to see. They tried to do it very obviously in the Denver/KC game but Denver would not be denied and so KC lost again. But make no mistake, the calls came at the pivotal moment to help KC get that last drive.
I saw people talking about the CLE/LV game going under bc they punted from the 30. I actually dont see a conspiracy there for the under. There was only 59 secs left up 14, and LV could do literally nothing on offense. Why kick a long fg with a guy who's not a great kicker? The options were go for it or punt and there was 0 chance of them losing. That one is easily explainable

In my 50+ years of sports gambling, have seen it all, unusual plays and bad beats, the only thing that is annoying is the bad calls by the refs- anything questionable should be sent to review as they can such as Kelce’s touchdown in the first quarter, which was nullified by a facemask which was fictional

IMHO, Denver not being denied had nothing to do with it. The orchestrated last drive was for entertainment purposes only. How many thousands of times have we watched the last drive determining who covers????? The winner has already been decided depending on where the money lies. Add this one to the mix. Don't get me wrong, the public money wins also. That's what makes this hobby so difficult. Difficult in most cases to figure out the script.

@Cowbeagle
You really think these refs can be this bad on a decades basis. Do you think maybe they are paid to do what they're told? They are being paid by the NFL and who knows who else.

Objective analysis is independent of result, so yes I'd be typing with one hand while counting cash with the other.

Going to throw my 2 cents in.If they want a game to stay under just call penalties like holding when there is a big play. You want over call more penalties on the d on pass plays..BUT here is the one where l think Vegas is in o the games, not all games but some. Why do teams get fined if by Friday you don't give a proper list of who might play or not play .l see in the NHL,NBA teams hide their lineup right until almost game time.That part makes me wonder why the NFL fines teams Just my opinion guys

Yes. Money is money. Too blatant of a variation. It has happened a lot over the years. Not a coincidence. It's not pocket change.

Agree with a few who have been gambling quite a while and have seen it all -a bad call, a bad coaching decision, a bad play happens. It just seems it’s under more scrutiny right now

People actually think there are billions bet on every game everyday.
25k legal books in the world, all with different handles. I remember when 2 street bookies, booking games a mile away from each other would have different handles on games, thus the reason books would lay off action to other bookies.

You guys are getting it slightly confused...you have to follow the money
NFL owners biggest money maker is TV deals. Those deals make money by selling advertisement slots.
Those advertisement slots are worth 'x' amount of dollars based on viewership numbers. For example the price of a super bowl 30 second advertisement slot is so high because around 100 million people are viewing the game.
Obviously a regular season game has less viewers so the price is lower. But that's how the system/pricing works
Owners are in the business of making money. So they want viewership numbers to stay consistent through the entire game if possible, to keep those advertisment slots at as high a dollar value as possible. The closer the game the more likely the viewer will stayed tuned in
This means they dont want blowouts if at all possible
This is where the refs come into play
Refs are obviously instructed to keep games as close as possible...if possible...obviously there will be blowouts at times where things are out of their control...maybe a team fumbles 5 times and goes down 35-3...or a QB has a career game and his team gets up 28-0...anything is possible so obviously not every game can be massaged by the refs...but a majority of the time a game will be within 1-21 points going into the 4th quarter
Now pay attention to how many times a team leading in the 4th quarter by 2-3 possessions will have a drive-stalling penalty called on them or the team trailing will have a drive-extending penalty called to help them get back in the game...this isnt accidental and happens basically every week in a few games...they want to keep games close/entertaining so viewers stay tuned in and keep viewership numbers up to keep those advertisement slots at their value. If everyone shuts off the TV at the end of the 3rd quarter it hurts viewership numbers, which is the owners #1 money maker....
For example the eagles had this happen in 2 or 3 of their first 5 games. The team I follow the most. If I remember correctly it was a hold in 2 of the games in the 4th Q to stall drives and I cant remember the 3rd one now but I could check the game logs and it would be there.
And there are countless other examples...its just how the league operates... Typically a holding call in the 4th Q to stall a team up 2-3 possessions is most common.. But they can call basically anything to stall a drive. to hopefully give the team down a chance to make the game more interesting and keep people tuned into their TV to keep viewership numbers up
You just have to follow the money and what makes owners money...they want to maximize profits just like any business would/should...as sad as it is money makes the world go round
