Luongo so far is the best goalie in the playoffs. Hard to argue when he's stopped 126 of 131 shots on goal. Dont know if we're going to the Cup, but if he keeps it up we'll have a shot at it.

BTW I dont see Chris Osgoods name on anyones lists.

He has won 2 Stanley Cups. I know that people in this forum like to downgrade goalies and feed us the nonsense that "he was on a great team" but you have to make saves and you have to win big games. For that reason a guy like Osgood belongs on peoples lists and a guy like Lundqvist does not

Don't have to add much more sean2114! The Caps are making it easy for him by not getting any bodies in front of him shots from 20 or 30 feet out he will stop all day. Everything is from the outside because the Rangers did a great job of blocking shots and making the Caps play on the outside. The Caps are not willing to pay the price and go to the net hard.

I would love to see  you in net for a few...They would put a whole through you...LOL...Ranger D doing a great job but easy on the sniper shots...Did you happen to see the Caps only goal last night.. That one he literally could not even see from Ovechkin and I don`t know how he is seeing some of the others and flashing that leather...He is playing insane and to not give him due is just plain sad IMO.

maybe it was different playing hockey for you growing up but when i was growing up as a defenseman we were taught to keep the shots to the outside which is a low percentage scoring area. the rangers defense has done a great job of getting the shots to the outside which is the easy shots for a goalie to stop, lundqvist has not had to deal with much traffic nor as he had to deal with high percentages shot from the slot.

Not gonna list a top 10, but top 5:

    1. Luongo
    2. Brodeur
    3. Kipper
    4. Hendrick
    5. Osgood (most underrated)

The rest are average or above average. Steve Mason has a decent year and he's in the top 10? Dipietwho?

Everyone of the goalies above have proven themselves year in and year out.

    1. Brodeur legend, and will be Canada's #1 goalie
    2. Luongo not in the league of brodeur until he proves something.never could take a shit team like florida anywhere. great goalies can do that.
3.Mason will pass luongo soon, he's the only reason columbus made the playoffs. luongo would not have made the playoffs if he was on columbus.
4.Lundqvist there is noway he is overrated, he's easily a top 5 goalie in this league.
    5. ward hes proved he can win the big one

other good goalies but not top 5
thomas gets lucky and on a great team.
Fluery good goalie but still lets in alot of softies.
Nabokov doesnt impress me, he's on a great team, toskala looked great on that sharks team.
    Turco had an off year
    Khabibulin

    most overrated goalies
Kiprusoff he had that one great year.
    miller

what goalie would you take if your team was shitty. i know in the past that joseph and belfour were great goalies and they proved it by getting the leafs in the playoffs and winning rounds in the playoffs.

my choice would be mason because he has proved it by getting columbus in the playoffs.

my 2nd choice would be Lundqvist as he too is not on a very good team and he got them in the playoffs.

who knows if marty could do that, will never know, but when he 1st started of he did.

but i do know that Luongo would not be my goalie, he's a good goalie on a good team.

They do not make much of an attempt to crash the net it is not their style and yes is a fault of theirs and makes them softer in the playoffs agreed, so again as I said the first time before my words were twisted THOSE SHOTS are NOT EASY to stop, those are amazing saves.

The Caps are a soft team but they can shoot from the perimeter better than any team in the NHL period. I am not hear to say Lundqvist is the greatest or whatever but give the guy his due man he is having a great series. Hey King Brodeur let in a nice long perimeter shot the other night which was soft, had a clear path to the net vision wise and came with 0.2 seconds left in a game so I guess he is a piece of crap then cause that shot was weaker than anything thrown from the outside by the Caps. He is playing super this series man come on giev the guy some credit.

bottom line is shots from the perimeter are the easiest for a goalie to stop and that is what he is seeing the most of, i don't understand what you are trying to say. It seems like you are trying to suggest that the shots from the perimeter are tough shots. perimeter shots are shots a goal should stop! anytime shots from way out there get in and it is not deflected and their is no traffic, it is a soft goal.
