Ottawa is the significantly better team but I like the goaltending advantage for the Rangers in this game. Shesterkin 6-1-2 all time vs Ottawa with a 1.88 GAA and .934 SV %. Reimer has been solid for Ottawa the past few weeks too going 2-0 giving up just 2 goals. NYR played yesterday and lack fire power overall. They've struggled scoring goals on home ice all season. Looking at the 2nd of back to backs the Rangers have struggled mightily scoring just 16 times in 11 such games. Breaking it down further when the 2nd of the B2B is at MSG they're just 1-7, all 8 games have gone under 5.5. The Rangers have only scored a total of 9 goals in those 8 games and they've been shutout 3 times. Not expecting much offense from the NYR tonight and I'm leaning on Shesterkin to be good for the NYR. Ottawa has a HUGE game in Detroit tomorrow night as well but can't afford to let easy points slip by so think it's a get ahead and protect the house kind of game.... or at least I hope!
Also playing smaller on the first period under 1.5 -106. Of the above 8 home games only 1 has gone over this number.
Trends are always made to be broken but situationally this is one I like tonight. GL!
