Again, thanks for posting....I responded to Prophet in yesterday's thread that I didn't want to lay -180 with the Blues against PHX and yet I'm laying -170 tonight. My decision is based on each teams system, Dallas is a North and South team that likes to attack with a few players who are playmakers whereas PHX plays a lot of hockey in the neutral zone and are very defensive while being dependent on capitalizing off turnovers. It doesn't make sense to lay a lot juice on a St Louis team that has had problems scoring and are facing a defensive team like PHX but tonight, I believe the matchup will allow St Louis optimal scoring chances while St Louis' defensive system will be tough for Dallas to break through. I realize Dallas was able to score against the Blues in their first two meetings but both games were in Dallas and they didn't have the ramifications of what is at stake this evening....it's playoff hockey tonight. While Lehtonen has played well, he's coming off a groin injury and playing b2b will be a big test. Meanwhile, Elliot is in a groove and I give him the advantage tonight. I'll also take Elliot and the Blues shooters if this game comes down to another shootout but I don't think that will happen. Dallas management has turned to a very young team and while this game is essentially a playoff game in itself for Dallas, a young team playing against St Louis' style doesn't bode well especially on a b2b. We know that St Louis forechecks well and they capitalize of turnovers which I expect to continue tonight. While Dallas needs this game, St Louis also needs this game to assure them, not only a playoff spot, but a higher seed. St Louis is not content with the 6th seed and they surely don't want to play Vancouver in the first round. St Louis is within reach of the 4th and 5th spot and they are better suited to play San Jose or LA in a 7 game series.

A lot of fellas will be on Calgary tonight because they don't have a short memory, they remember what Calgary did to a shittty Edmonton team and Detroit team. While I expected Detroit to beat Calgary, I also realize that it should be no surprise they lost. Detroit is not a good team. At the beginning of the season, I posted in several threads that my 3 teams to fade this season were Philly, Detroit and LA....I was correct with 2. I selected LA because quick had back surgery in the offseason and playing a compacted season with many b2b2b's is not good medicine. LA goes as Jonathon Quick goes. But as for Anaheim, even though this game is irrelevant to them from a playoff perspective doesn't mean they'll tank this evening. No team wants to limp into the playoffs as a lot of this game is played with confidence and psyche is of virtue. Anaheim will skate North and South tonight, they will capitalize on Calgarys turnovers and they will fill the net. Let's not start pretending that Calgary is worth a shitt.

I appreciate your thought but I can't understand why anyone in North America would want to wager on this game....obviously if they'res an edge, then yes, but we have to underachieving teams that will play tonight with absolutely no emotion which is why the oddsmakers set this total at 5 instead of 5.5. Giguerre had a temper tantrum a few days back and all of a sudden Colorado decides to skate for a game or two...big fukking deal. It's a facade to think Colorado even gives a shitt about tonights game and as a gambler, why would you want to wager on a team that has players planning their offseason trip to Vegas? Absolutely no edge exists with this game other than maybe an over 5 which is probably going to push anyway.

Well...you have a point and I use your analogy when betting small conferences in college football. I suppose an edge exists in any game regardless of the importance but I have to dig deep to find one with the Avs game tonight. If I did bet this game, I would agree to take Edmonton only because Colorado gives up a 100 shots a game, they're injured, they don't have as many playmakers as Edmonton and my assumption is they simply don't give a fukk if they win or lose.
