Vegas and books in general have been getting killed the past few weeks. Call it a conspiracy theory but I think Vegas has been giving out easy lines  to the public in hopes to shake out small time books and help get legal gambling off the ground. Crazy or got you thinking? If a small time loca book gets beat week after week, he’s going to close up shop forcing players to consider alternate - more legal ways to play.

Vegas has been getting slammed. Favorites and public plays have been covering non stop. Thanksgiving was a sweep for the public. When do the tables turn? I think we start to see it today.

    Giants ML.
    Broncos plus points.
    Seattle plus points.

Vegas hasn't been getting slammed.  The books have been making money week-in week-out like they always do.

This post shows you clearly don't understand how a "book" works. You think the odds you pull off your free website are exactly representative of how the "books" are taking in money? You, and all of us for that matter, really have no clue. We are pulling easily manipulated data from a public XML feed, anyone with 2 weeks of programming exp. can represent that however they want.

Even further, books dont lose. Period. Ever. Do you understand how books make money? Do you think their goal is to just trick and slam the public with fixes and manipulative lines? Wrong. They make money on juice, period, end of the day. Whenever they take too much action on a game, they hedge it with another book that needs action on the other side. Or with an offshore. Or with am overseas books.

Please dude, stop gambling. You don't know what you are doing or what you are talking about. Watch some videos on how sportsbooks operate, set lines, and make money. an_speechlessan_timeout

A perfectly balanced book always makes money. Let’s be real, there are nonperfectly balanced books on the street. I know a few local and respectable books all with over 200 players each and they have made it clear that the last few weeks have been tough to ride out between NFL and NCAAF.

    Again, wrong.

Please learn how this stuff works before posting so confidently. Books often have margin into the 38/72% spread range. Ever paid -115 on a line you just loved? Books are simply a market, prices fluctuate as needed to meet demand. Yes, books lose money on games. That happens with large sample sizes. But a good book doesn't overextend themselves and leave much unprotected margin. Those books aren't "hurting," they are mismanaged.

Actually very interesting... small time bookies could potentially fold eventually due to this, but someone who has been booking for 10-20-30 years isn’t going to worry about it... everyone loves betting on credit

Actually very interesting... small time bookies could potentially fold eventually due to this, but someone who has been booking for 10-20-30 years isn’t going to worry about it... everyone loves betting on credit

One consideration not being discussed would be the role of the various states involved. Each of them intends to collect a "tax" of one form or another. They will get their share first. The books operating in those states get paid after the state. If the books feel they're not making enough to make it worthwhile, expect 25%-30% juice on a bet.

When this happens the locals can stay at 20% and then be the more desirable way to go.
