Nobody has a right to play in the NFL. It is a privilege. If your conduct is an embarrassment to the League, or against the law, they can (and should) boot your butt out of their organization.

Explain the difference between hitting a woman in the off-season and hitting a woman during the season?

What is the appropriate season for hitting women?

Ray threw his whole life away. His ignorance, lack of morals, and lack of self control cost him millions.

As a non-American this is what I was thinking as well. Watching American sports for about three years now and everytime these kind of things happen, the whole media jumps on it and a player gets punished by the league for all sorts of things not related to the game.

When I compare this to European sports, the player who did something like Ray would not get suspended by the league as it is up to his team to determine whether they want to punish the player, as he is representing the team and not the league.

What I have noticed since I watch American sports, correct me if I'm wrong, is that players really represent the national league, maybe even more than their own team. Then again, I'm still surprised to see how much these players are bound and scrutinized by the audience, the teams and the league.

What I have noticed since I watch American sports, correct me if I'm wrong, is that players really represent the national league, maybe even more than their own team. Then again, I'm still surprised to see how much these players are bound and scrutinized by the audience, the teams and the league.

nfl is a business,as a player on a team he is representative of that business...image is important to those in business and can affect their bottom line, which is clearly the number 1 priority of ANY business...that is their whole reason for being-TO PROFIT!!!
whether real or perceived,if the transgression tarnishes the image they try and project then it behooves them to cut the perpetrator loose.
dont get it twisted,it aint about being a good person or not...nfl cudnt give 2 fu..ks whether the whole league are kiddie-fiddling,swindling,lying murderers(which they probably are most likely).........so long as that shi.t is kept under wraps and dont hit them in the pocket in terms of viewership, sponsorship, sales etc..

its all a bit of a hilarious joke actually wen ya look at it like that cos,as we all know, americans(and world citizens in general) have been so conditioned to be desperately addicted to their sports, grunting and cheering at the team they think they identify with on the t.v. screen, that no amount of unscrupulous or immoral behaviour from the participants cud even slightly sway them to change the channel

How does anyone know for sure that she simply 'deserved it' (witnessing the video, it's clear, she attacked him first) based upon the fact that two months after the altercation, they were married, and have had no visible domestic problems since. and yes, it's an absolute 'privilege' to be drafted by the NFL, it's their league, their money, and they will do as they please. when they please....

yes, here it is 'more so' the League. That's usually where the harsher punishment comes from.

And I hear ya FalconJerk....that's a good question. Maybe bc 'it wasn't him, but the people' he was with(supposably), back when all that happened. The other 2 guys took the heat, but some how no one ever served time for those 2 deaths.

Let me get this straight: you are questioning whether she deserved to get knocked unconscious by an NFL running back? Do you think that was a fair fight? What the darn is wrong with you?

You are wrong about to say that in European sports they would not get suspended by the league. Too right they would. In most cases the league would act first if the the team did not.

Also if you haven't noticed the NFL has had many problems with its image with regards to domestic violence. It's only because this video was released now that people are raising their eyebrows.

Many NFL players it would seem handle their women like they do their money:
