As a general rule this year I have been fading NFC South teams any time they play a decent team from any other division especially on the road.
The Saints have Atlanta and Tampa Bay on deck who they have lost to both already once. They can't win the division if they lose to either team again because they are tied with the Bucs who have Jacksonville this week at home and finish with Carolina. They are a game ahead of the Falcons but if they lose to them again they can't win the division if they end up tied.
This game would be huge for the Saints to win, to give them a leg up but the other games are more important. While the Rams really need this win to stay in the wildcard picture, and they have surprised me with their offense really clicking now they got Kupp back to go with Nacua and finally have a running back that can provide balance.
The Saints defense looks good statistically but whenever I watch them they always seem to be good on 1st and 2nd down and then they give up a big play on 3rd and long.
On offense the Rams are better in the red zone at 60% 11th in the NFL with NO at 52% ranking 21st. Good news for the saints is the last 3 games it's been up to 90%
Vs the Giants, Panthers and Lions. 2 bad teams and the one sort of good team has a bad defense.
In fact of the Saints 7 wins only 2 are vs a team with any chance of the playoffs the Colts and Tennessee who they beat by 1. The other teams they beat are all no hopers NE, Carolina 2x, NYG, Chicago.
Whenever they played a decent team they lost, and they can't even beat anyone in the South so far except Carolina who is the worst team in the league. They don't have any pass rush to get to Stafford which is the key to beating him. Rams don't have one either though.
For that reason I am also playing the Over here, with two old school pocket passers with time to sit back and pick apart the defense i think we get a bit of a shootout.
