Sop screaming foul! The ball was under thrown, the defender didn't even touch the WR. If anything they could have called Offense PI for the WR pushing the defense away.
If you want someone to blame put the heat on the coach for punting on 4th and 1. If you can't get one yard when you really need it you don't deserve to win the game.

Then why did they throw the original flag, why did they not throw a flag on dez Bryant coming on to the field, explain that.I had nothing on this game either way,but if you cant see that something shady was going on,on that play, then either your a dallas fan,or just someone that don't know football. What happened on the 4 and 1or what the coach did is irrevelant to what happened on that play.

Where does it say in the rule book that it is a penalty for running on the field with no helmet.  Because there isn't.  Only applies to players on field.   What was so unsportsmanlike of Dez arguing with a debatable PI call that could of been called OPI on Pettigrew for grabbing fcemask. For the defensive holding, really tough to judge in game speed for refs when the hold happened only a yard after the 5 yrd contact exception zone for defensive player. Everybody is watching the replay in slow motion whereas refs are watching full game speed. Not a reviewable play.  Committee should decide to review penalties for 2015 NFL season. Still doesn't discredit Cowboys win. If the game was fixed, Caldwell, the punter, and Stafford were all in on the fix for not going for it on 4th and 1, shanked punt, and the two minute drive the Lions had a chance to win the game with Stafford dropping the egg twice.

The call on Dez is totally up to the Refs and is not a guaranteed foul/penalty. Read the rules. The Lions benefited from that bogus running into the kicker BS, whatch that play again and you will see the kicker step on the Dallas player.

would you prefer defensive holding? It was something - hence the flag being thrown.

He all but mugged Pettigrew not once looked back to see where the ball was and worst of all almost pulled his jersey off him past the 5 yd limit (so PI or Holding both infractions enough to give the Lions a first down and the blind as you are refs missed them both)  time for you to get a new set of glasses 3/4 of the world thought and there was no doubt PI.   Anyone in here that thought there was no infraction go smoke another joint.

Stafford made the wrong read, threw the wrong pass. Why should Dallas get a flag for a poor throw? Same thing happens with the feet tangling. It's a bad throw that caused it. If the refs threw a flag everytime a defender put 2 fingers on a WR there would be a flag every throw.
If that gets a flag every QB would throw at the defenders back so the WR can slow down and get ran over.

I'm not a Dallas or Det fan. I could care less about that game but the refs made the right call by picking up the flag. The ref saw the WR go down so he threw the flag. They talked it over and realized the ball was under thrown. Is the defender just supposed to stop and let the WR go where ever he wants. The defender is also entitled to a line, the ball just happened to be in his line.

He landed on the Dallas player when he came down from his motion of kicking, this by rule is running into the kicker. No defender can interfere with the safe landing of a kicker while his leg is in the air as this is a very susceptible position in which case can cause injury to the kicker. It was by rule 100% the correct call.

er, Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant ran onto the field to protest the call. He was not wearing a helmet. Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1(j) prohibits "removal of a helmet by a player in the field of play or the end zone during a celebration or demonstration or during a confrontation with a game official or any other player

There it is written in the rule book.
Dez should of got a penalty but officials didn't want to call it or didn't have the balls to call it. Officials manipulated the game for dallas to win and got the job done. Won't be last time either.

How many times do you see players crossing over the line by a couple of feet to celebrate a sack, or to watch a player run a kick back? Or coaches running onto the field to get a time out. Fiser in the NBA ran onto the court into the circle at mid court to call a TO and didn't get a foul called on him. Dez wasn't a player on the field during a play, the play was over and he never put his and on the ref. Maybe he was coming onto the field for the next play and forgot his helmet.

He ran 20 yards onto the field to confront an official to debate the call. Doesn't it say confrontation of an official is a foul?
To celebrate is one thing but to confront is another

That penality is called at the descretion of the refs and is not automatic.

So says the head of NFL refs and other refs I've seen on ESPN. It's not a automatic penality.

So you're saying you can run on the field scream and yell and question the officials decision or decision making with no consequence? At the very least it's unsportsmanlike which is foul and would give detroit a first down

The refs I've seen said pass interference is a judgement call, some saying contact was minimal and not a penalty some saying it was a penalty....................either way it's a judgement call.

Refs in that game made their judgement, every game has good and bad judgement calls, a true championship team rises above all that.

Lions had many oppurtunities to put Dallas away and could not, only have themselves to blame. 1 play never wins or loses any game.

Chris Carter said it was not pass interference because the receiver was running away from the ball, had he stop and came back to the ball then clearing pass interference unless the defender looks back at the ball..

As long as receiver is running defender has every right to follow him, but defender can not impede receivers path to the ball without playing for the ball himself/.

defender did not impede receivers path to the ball since receiver was running away from the ball.

the contact was made by both receiver and defender and the judgement call was minimal contact by both not a penality, and remember, you get to watch the video many times from different angles in slow motion, the refs making that judgement get 1 look at 1 angle at full speed and must make a judgement in just a few seconds.

nothing fixed about it in my book.

They are right about it being at the refs discretion, which just leads to more problems in the interpretation.Either it is against the rules,or it isn't,once you start letting refs call penalties on their own discrection, what could possibly happen is early in the game a player from team A,runs on the field argueing a call to ref number 1,and no penalty is called.Later in same game, player B from opposite team runs on field argueing call to ref number 2,and then that ref decides to call a penalty.Same thing happens a lot with taunting calls, once you put it up to a refs discretion, different rules apply to different teams or players.
