You are right and it is shocking that any intelligent fan would buy that explanation. There is no such rule and anyone who has spent more than five minutes watching or playing football knows that. Panthers bettors win and Pats bettors lose on a tough call. It happens. But don't talk nonsense to try to justify the bad call. I'd be embarrassed to claim that if you hold your opponent successfully you can intercept the ball and it negates holding.

I believe you are correct- no Pass Int! Ball was basically uncatchable from where Gronk was. However, the ref who threw the flag was going to call ? He could have EASILY called HOLDING-very easily! That's automatic five yards and first down! Gronk was being held, then mugged and face guarded during that whole play! A holding call should have been made-period. Of course, this doesn't guarantee that NE would have scored-we will never know! A BLATANT missed call. Mind you-I had no dog in the this hunt-just an observer!

If the flagged had been called and pats ended up scoring then the Carolina backers would be crying.. Y'all act like it was a good call to pick up the flag. No crying here I had them over 46 and pats +3 but the point that everyone is trying to make here. How can you throw a flag when your right on the play and then pick it up?
