packers dont have the DL to switch to a 3-4
besides kampman they have no stand-out lineman----unless they pickup someone in the offseason theyres no way they will be successfull w/ only 3 upfront, they will get dominated.
 
plus the secondary may hit hard and benefit from the added zone blitzes and such--- but the issue is still the same. they blow coverage. how is a 3-4 blitzing defense going to help that? you need a talented secondary with press corners that you can trust for that to work. and only woodson fits the bill. packers will continue to give up the big play if they switch to a 3-4

I agree grey........this is a gr8 move for the Pack.........I hope the Steelers get to play THEM next year in the Super Bowl!!!!

The Packers have alot of pretty good linebackers for one thing.    They can utilize them more.   Hawk, Barnett, Popinga, Chillars, Bishop.

The linemen they have may or may not fit the defense.   We'll see.   They might add some free agent linemen or draft some this offseason also.    

 

You could be right.   You could be wrong.     Give it a half a season before you proclaim it a failure.    Besides,   McCarthy has already said they won't be in a 3-4 all the time.   There will be times they use the 4-3.

Capers has run the 4-3 Defense too.

I like the defensive change, but as a Packer fan I'm a little concerned about McCarthy as a coach too.  The team as a whole seemed very undisciplined (penalties, etc.) last year on both sides of the ball.
