denver probably wins this game but will be closer than most think. garappalo left with more than enough offensively.. more than serviceable. denver by 3 in a tight one.

alot of unknowns with certain teams and this is one of them.. but given the eye test, falcons just feel like the more complete team. big targets on the outside, 2 headed beasts in the backfield.. not the absolute worst defensively. ridders has already gotten meaningful regular season reps, i could see a convincing falcons win welcoming bryce young to the league.

back to back years the steelers have had to face a beast opponent on day 1 but this one might be too big. i just think 49ers will have 1 or 2 more explosive plays than the steelers that will put them over the hump.

Care to elaborate why you like SF here? I have PIT pegged as the most undervalued team odds-wise going into the season, and would have a tough time betting against them on anything because of the value in their lines, even if I thought they were a dog in a given game.

i think pitt and kenny take a step forward this season for sure, but out of the gate having to deal with the 49ers is not the best scenario for them. as we all know it does not matter who quarterbacks for the 49ers, shanahans plug n play system has shown success time and time again. i just think it will be too much for the steelers to stick around for 4 quarters straight. Pittsburgh was 2nd to last in explosive plays marking 16yds or more.. thats genuinely pathetic (im a steelers fan) and that wont fly in this particular game. but some how the steelers still managed to be competitive last season. steelers do not win this game w.o explosive plays and i think they fall short a few.
and secondly, i think this line is short. i personally have this line at -3.5 maybe even -4 by kickoff. but the oddmakers cant give pitt +3.5 or +4 with the pegged expectancy of success you illuded to earlier. it never matters how good or bad a team actually is, it only matters how bad or good the market thinks you are and i think the market is a little off with this one. i have 49ers winning by 8.

@undermysac i always come across niche stats like that but i take it with a grain of salt. i dont really let it effect my handicapping or feelings on a game.
Fwiw, I didn't come across that stat randomly. I looked it up myself as I always remembered the Niners coming out slow in week 1. So it was a part of my handicap(amongst a hundred other things), not something I saw and affected me.

yeah with pickett i think they are striding toward opening up the playbook and letting him rip it. if they can break out of that shell of being conservative (tail end of big bens career) they can be really good. its all about if hes gonna have time. if that O line can hold up long enough and give him time then he can be so dangerous. football needs to hurry up man makin me anxious lol
