NFL Fix? Please reply...

To sum it up in short: The word Fix is used to degrade the seriousness of the act of cheating: call it that some results in American Professional Sports are Premedicated

Mofioso Has got it Right ... Sports Are Rigged NFL ,NBA, are the most obvious ...Espically The Prime Time Games ... How else do you explain These Ridiculous situations - Torey Smith bros death .... Career day ...Favre dad dies ....career day... Hurrican katrina... Saints SuperBowl...No Peyton manning for a year ... Oh wait little brother wins...these things are pre- determined ...NBA is the most obvious ... IMO... Now for baseball im still workin out my conspiracy theory ...

thats why you don't bet on  nationally televised games because they know everyone is betting on them, except the so called wise guys and me.  we bet on litttle known schools that don't get much attention

These r billion dollar industries, of course there will be corruption in there. Refs call the game, they decide how they want the game to go. Its so easy for a ref to fix a game and have a score turn out the way he wants to. Its like saying goverments arent corrupt. Ur idiots . U just dnt have proof that games r fixed thats y u idiots will never bielve it. But of course there are games that are fixed.

At the end of the day, where there's money, there's corruption.  Plain and simple.  If you can bet on it, the outcome is going to be influenced by someone or something other than what you are betting on.

The is no way in the world that the folks that have to pay out for losing, is going to allow the outcome be decided by chance.  It's just not realistic. 

Not sure a "degenerate" has to bet the game tonite Mafioso, alot of us enjoy a Monday night "play" for 50 bucks and a bowl of popcorn.  I enjoy your posts of facts, wisdom and confidence.  But you yourself "Wolf" like to look down at most of us in here, as you stand on the rock.  As confident as you are in tainted sports, there are just as many that look at you as the crackpot, but then we are the "sheep".   Thye are two sides to everything Wolf, Romney or Obama, Sports Fixed or not, Man landed on the moon?  Oswald acted alone?  I am a conspracy theorist, I do think the NFL is a manipulated script week to week, and the Refs are the Directors.  That Saints game was the most obvious, it was Saints night on national TV, with the whole family there to be showcased and NFL to make good for bounty sentence, fans to be showcased along with Poster Boy Brees.  That is how the league is rigged, Saints were not going to lose on Saints night, and I regret not seeing it clearly before the game.

I do believe refs are not honest they can very easily have money on certain games and place bets.  Look at the NBA ref who was betting on games and making calls  to decide the outcome.  So it can happen.

I think the ref in lastnights game was looking for anything to call against the Chargers.  They saw Brees in trouble on that one roughing the passer call and the Chargers picked it off which would of made the it 31-14 Chargers and no Brees comeback was possible.  And did everything they could to help New orleans win on that last drive.

i don't feel the games are fixed but i feel vegas has a very good idea to set a line at a certain number knowing what will persuade people to bet on the team that most likely will not cover. They are not always right but they are majority of the time and if you think vegas just wants 50/50 action than keep thinking that and you will eventually see ur bankroll shrinking

I don't think anything is fixed.  I do think the handicappers that sports-books employ are far and away more talented than anyone here, and can predict game outcomes within a much smaller margin of error than we can.  For example, I think the house has a good chance of raking in mad cash tonight because they've handicapped the game and they think Houston won't win by more than 8 points.  Then people will come here and cry "fixed"! because they did 10 seconds of handicapping and were wrong.

Piggybacking off thawv's post, when you have money, you have corruption.  In the NFL, EVERY PLAY you could call holding, honestly.  In the NBA, there's fouls on EVERY SINGLE POSSESSION.  In MLB, the HP umpire has SOLE JUDGEMENT on what's a strike and what's a ball.  That's powerful, TOO powerful (and too profitable) for anyone man (or referee) to not be affected by it...

Any "fixing" done by actual players on the field is EXTREMELY rare. Most of the games that appear fixed look that way because professional linesmakers have their fingers on the pulse of public opinion & know how to capitalize when it's wrong.When a line seems way off or obviously wrong, it isn't because they're stupid. I do believe that the leagues, the NFL in particular, have their own agendas and/or preferred outcomes. I certainly don't feel that commisioners are above exerting a certain ammount of influence over refs to steer games towards these outcomes. But in my humble opinion, outright fixing happens very rarely.

A simple question: For those who believe in "fixes" and even have "examples" to go with it, wouldn't they be all rich by now or is it just a justicfication AFTER the fact? I don't mean any disrespect since I do think it looks fishy sometimes but I do think it's a fair question.

The Seattle/Green Bay game was a definite fix...they saw an opportunity to call a TD for Seattle and they took it.
It was clearly an interception in the endzone, but that slight opportunity to call it a TD was there.

Bettors all cry 'fix' when they lose. Does anyone of you who wear the 'fixer' tin foil hat, realize how much would be at stake to fix a result? Do you really not think it would be exposed by someone? And as always, in professional sports especially a team game, you need a team result to properly fix something--so everyone on a team is in on it? 

It is truth that games are influenced but I am still on the fence with straight up fixes.  Players get paid to PLAY, not WIN.  And in todays football it is very easy to say that.  The NFL labels itself as an "entertainment business"  So I know that they have major power when it comes to doing what they want when they want.  And no one is going to jail the Golden Goose while they are still at its financial mercy.  The thing I hate most about the NFL is how they Squawk about their anti-gambling squeaky clean league when the Majority of the owners made their fortune from ....wait for it.....Gambling.  So FIXED??? No not entirely, but heavily influenced yes
