I should have made it clear that I started talking about the Redskins D/Dolphins O trench matchup and then began discussing the Jets D/ Browns O Secondary/pressure matchup in the second half of the writeup.

Jay Mohr's Sports was at Broncos' camp, yesterday.  He had Talib on.  Talib was enthusiastic about the change, and said the same thing you're saying, they're going to have a special D.  They certainly have the talent/personnel to do so.

Don't hold me on this, but in a lot of games last year, DEN's D was playing way too conservative under Del Rio, in some blown leads or lost, I personally felt like they should have been more aggressive in play calling, they have the players to be special. Talib know this too. I expect way more turnovers by this DEN D this year along with the sacks.

Yes, yes yes. Look at teams the first year under Wade Phillips as a DC... The 2004 Chargers, The 2007 Cowboys, and the 2011 Texans. All of them improved drastically in his first year then steadily fell down. It is going to be a very good year for Denver's D.

On the opposite side of that, Adam Gase is going to be a big loss imo... but Denver's loss should be Jay Cutler's gain. Gase attacks all levels of the defense, constantly bubble screening to attack the line of scrimmage, followed by deep post, followed by draw, followed by quick out, followed by comeback, followed by bubble screen...

Cutler is going to put up points week one, I believe we will see OVER 50 in Chicago v. Green Bay, and a SQUEAKER of an UNDER in Den v. Bal. I love Baltimore, but I'm beginning to believe Den takes this one 27-20.

Assuming Brady will be out this game at the very least of his 4 game suspension, the line will where I think it will be barring any major injuries. Some might find it hard to back a team without its starting future HOF QB, but I find it more hard to back a PIT team without its BELLcow RB that can do it all and very suspect D. Blount is also out this game but a guy by the name Jonas Gray might carry this team to a win opening night at home.

I agree Le'Veon Bell is a big loss, but rather because of his pass-catching ability. When I look at this game, there isn't one matchup in terms of units that I can see to be won by the Patriots. That defense was suspect in 2014, but the few changes they have made should be enough to not allow Jimmy Garoppolo to score a lot behind this garbage o-line and with a receiving corps that is trimmed for the high-efficient quick-release passing game by Tom Brady.

That defense was suspect in 2014, but the few changes they have made should be enough to not allow Jimmy Garoppolo to score a lot behind this garbage o-line and with a receiving corps that is trimmed for the high-efficient quick-release passing game by Tom Brady.

Im glad we both agreed with the Bell being a big lost, he is just a dynamic player in all faces on O. I can go on and on about how PIT's passing attack can just blow this game wide open, but I doubt BB will allow this game to go into a wide open shoot out, while I can relate to NE O line being not a focal point of their team this year, they are far from being a weak spot, and I think their game plan will be run, run and run, BB is a great coach, he will explore PIT's weakness and hide NE's weakness on most plays, only way I see PIT wining this game is if D Will plays a game of his life and their D create a c couple of turnovers. Again this is just a lean, the next 4 weeks will determine a lot on my leans for week #1, might even take away some games and add a few.

This is where I disagree. Their o-line was terrible. We just didn't see sacks because Tom Brady played the quick-release perfectly. I think there isn't one QB who would have made the SB behind this o-line. Dan Connoly will probably replaced by Josh Kline but I don't think this is a major upgrade. Putting Jimmy Garoppolo behind this line will turn out as a ticking bomb. The Steelers pass rush was very good last season and they will pressure the heck out of Jimmy. Last season there were six teams who had a better pass rush grade (PFF) than the Steelers, the Patriots played four of them: MIA, KC, BAL, SEA. Seattle were dealing with a lack of depth due to their injuries and I liked the matchup for NE, but against the other four (Miami twice), the Pats went 2-2 SU and 1-3 ATS. Jimmy Garoppolo just cannot play the quick-release like Tom Brady does and I don't expect him to handle the pressure. I can see 1-2 INT and a fumble from him. Also I don't believe they will be running effectively enough to get the pressure off Jimmy Garoppolo.

Lets get back with this matchup after a few preseason games, as of now, I still feel the same with the NE play, but you are right about Jimmy G, i just don't think NE will make him the focal point in this game to throw 1-2 int with a fumble, Jonas Gray to run crazy? Lets see after week 3 in preseason. Love the conversation.

To start maybe 1-2 units, mid season form 3-5 units, if on hot streak MAX PLAYS 10 units. Most likely 3 units or so.

Taking the JETS lean off the table, do I think Fitz is a downgrade from Geno? NO! but that 600 dollar broken jaw wasn't a normal locker issue, can't think of 1 starting QB in the history of the NFL being hit by a back up player and the locker room feel and tell it as it is with the problem being a 50/50 problem on both sides. Not saying the NYJ will win or lose, simply do not want to wager this game as of now. Will find a replacement game soon.

2 games comes to mind right away is IND -2 and CAR -4, hate taking road fav any week let alone opening weekend, but CAR barring any major injuries on paper should crush the JAC at home in week 1.

Going to wait and pick, will have official lean once I go through this some more.

A lot have changed these past weeks, so let me have an updated lean list of mine for week#1.

    PIT @ NE -3

Jimmy G does not look good or haven't looked as good as I have hoped, but its NE's D that have me worried, if Brady is not playing in week #1, take me off the NE lean and put me on the PIT team that might score one too many points for NE to keep up. If Brady plays, would still lean NE.

I no longer like the JETs, for many reasons, although if I had to pick I would have the JETs wining their home opener with Cle coming to town.

    MIA -3 @ WAS

All over this Mia team, Was will start RG3 unless he gets kill in these next 2 preseason games, and to me he doesn't look ready at all, I think Mia will put a beat down on this Was team in week #1. -3 for a road team isn't always smart but for this game, i will take the road fav.

    BAL @ DEN -4

Still loving this DEN lean, that D will prove me correct although the O will also flex their muscle this game.

    NYG @ DAL -5.5

Explained enough on why I like the Gmen this game, might be totally wrong but some strange reason still leaning NYG + points.

    PHI-1 @ ATL

Lean PHI -1, while I think ATL D improved and JULIO will be a beast, just too much O for ATL to handle in week #1, I expect a high scoring game with PHI just having a better O and D on game day.

    MIN -1 @ SF

Lean MIN, SF looked like **** on paper and I think they will probably play like it on their first game too, MIN is one of those teams that not much people are talking about yet, I think by week #5 people will be like damn Minny is a playoff bound team.

All these are just leans, I'm sure they might change again come week #1, but its good to keep up and bring up some good football conversations.

    Just a little update~

NE is now -7 or -6.5 on non sharp lines. Brady is worth everyone of those 3.5 points, those dink and dunks need to be ran with the best. I expect everyone on the O side of the ball to be ready for this game except Blount and Lafell, I expect Gray to do just fine if not put up better numbers than Blount would have if he was playing. Missing Lafell no doubt will hurt, but I think the next man up rather its old man Reggie or Dobson, Amendola will do just fine, some might say their Oline is trash, they very well might be but the dink and dunks will kick in. On the flip side of the ball, NE's D lost a lot of their major KEY players from last year, both CBs and their star DT, no doubt losing Revis hurts, but not having browner might be a good thing, can't replace a locker presence like Wilfork but I am sure BB have a plan like always when losing a key player, if you really ask me, I am not loving this NE D this year but for this week 1 matchup with PIT, it might not affect them as much as most want to think, PIT is missing their starting center, their starting RB, and missing their home run threat MB, can't never take away AB and Big Ben, but without a running game and that home run threat I like the matchup this game for NE, game is a -7 spread I will take the home team.

MIA is now -3.5 and look to be going to -4 by game day. With RG3 this game was a perfect spot to back Mia, now with cousin, this might actually turn into a ball game. I am really ridding the hype on this Mia team this year but with the QB change and -3.5 spread I will have to hold back and see who will play and who will not, but MIA is looking stout on their D line and their O looked much improved so far.

DEN spread is back to -4.5, losing ward for a game doesn't help but I still expect the DEN D to dominate this game and it will help DEN come away with a cover this game.

NYG now is only +5.5 from +6, what change this half a point? I actually have a change of heart in this game and is leaning towards DAL now, ELI looked bad, preseason or not, and DAL look to be clicking without DEZ, for all those words I typed for this matchup, nothing really showed me it will go that way. Another game I will have to wait until game day to see who is playing or not.

PHI now -3.......crazy part I like it, ATL will go score for score for only so many drives then PHI will just out gas them, and for now, I like PHI's D much more than ATL's D.

MIN -2.5 another major point swing, lots of Min hype, but this SF team might just shock people, this game is much closer then most assume, I liked Min at +3 but at -2.5 I am starting to lean SF at home in their opener.

    NE -7 -104 2 units

I liked NE with or without Brady at one time before the preseason, now with confirmation Brady is indeed playing, LOVE the NE bet that much more, I had a small write up a few post up, so no need to repeat myself.

    LETS GO PATS!!!!!
