@undermysac Of those three, I think Williams is having a slightly more efficient year so far. But I like the trend with Maye for sure.
Tough question. But I think all NFL QBs are only good as their coaches and leadership.
As a Browns fan, I’m starting to wonder if Watson had potential but Stefanski ruined him.
Back to your question: All threes of those QBs would be out of the league soon if on the Browns, Giants or Jets.
Give me Maye

Thanks for all the opinions, good convo.
It looks like a few posters got upset with all the Drake Maye votes. Is it cause he's white and just assumed that we're a bunch of old men talking about football here? Like back in the day when all qb's were white?
Nice try, no race baiting here. It's a sports forum and we are talking about football players, for their performance on the field, no matter the skin color.
Like get this, believe it or not...I think that Lamar Jackson is the best QB in the NFL. Also, has anyone noticed how good Drake Maye is at escaping the pocket and gaining yards? Who would of thunk it?

Just watching the Bears now since I'm a Homer. It's all defense and running as of now in the 1H. It's looking like a game that Caleb won't have to do much, he has had his share of miscues all ready. 2 interceptable balls, 1 interception, and 2 botched snaps.
I want to see him win a game for the Bears when they need "him". That's what seperates the greats from the good. Maybe it will be next week vs Lamar?

@undermysac
He’s an NFL starter but not so fast……
Look at the teams he has faced and look at the easy schedule they got for that rest of the season.

Yea I know all that.
But so has Caleb. He's faced shit D's minus Detroit and maybe the Vikings. And caught a rising Ravens D of sorts. I was at that game, he starred down his first read for too long all game imo.
If all things were equal and that easy to judge, shouldn't Caleb's #'s be equal to or better than Maye's?
Look I'm a football junkie. I watch this too much. You can just see Maye doing all the small things perfectly, and with repetition, with good habits.
His eyes are constantly moving, his feet are in rhythm with his eyes, he goes through his progressions quickly. He has great pocket presence. And last but not least, he delivers the ball with accuracy and with the correct trajectory.
He has the best passer rating in the nfl against the blitz. He's only a sophomore and he's better than ANY other current qb against extra pressure.
I understand the sos argument, but it's only valid to a certain extent. In all honesty it's an easy cop out or "lazy" argument in the long run. In a league of 32 pro teams, the talent levels of the competition isn't that drastic.

i agree here. Maye has the best OLine, though his surrounding cast is just OK, though Henderson is finally getting carries and showing his worth as a 2nd round draft pick.
Caleb has a few good pieces around him like Odunze, but his OLine is weaker, but way better than last year (not to mention way way better coaching).
Jayden may have the best talent around him and a good OLine, but injures across the entire offense has turned a very good team into a barely mediocre one. If he cant stay healthy, and there's strong indication that's a career thing, he is the "worst" option of the 3. if he can figure out how to keep his body intact and avoid big hits, then I'd move him ahead of Caleb

The only concern I have about Maye is the ‘drop’ in efficiency late in close games.
As mentioned above, Maye has very good numbers overall. He is in the top few in several categories.
For example, his rating is 5th at 113.9. Jackson is 1st at 125.9
However, his PE/Play is 23rd at .094, Stafford is 1st at .224
I like to look at games in the 2nd half where the score is +/- 8 points, in other words a one-score game late.
That is where I have a couple of issues with his efficiency.
In these situations he is 17th in rating at 97.5, Jackson has 145.9.
He is 28th in PE/Play at .088, Mahomes is 1st at .327.
In these situations, under pressure it is the same.
He is 18th in rating at 62.2, Daniel Jones is 1st at 134.4
He is 23rd in PE/Play at -..192, Mahomes is 1st at .602
It is not the team blocking. That is fairly consistent.
Overall Blocking 13th in PE/Plat at .17
Pass Blocking: Blown Block% is 9th at 2.74%
2nd half in a +/- 8 point game:
Overall Blocking 15th in PE/Play at .15
Pass Blocking: Blown Blocking% is 9th at 2.815%
So, my concern right now is if Maye is more of a game manager or is he able to overcome a deficient late and be successful in a tight game late.
Some guys are consistently good no matter the situation and some are consistently bad. Some step up under pressure and some slip under pressure.
Is he good when the team is playing good or does he make the team good when they are struggling a bit and need a QB to step up.
Have they really needed that yet this season? They certainly will in the playoffs.
But overall I am very happy with his play.

@Raiders22
I said before that for me it was Drake Maye and it wasn’t really close between him and the others. But I also have some concerns about how he will fare in the playoffs. The defenses he will face are not the New York jets. My overall opinion at this point is that Maye is a great player on an average team who won’t win a playoff game against a top tier opponent.

@brn2loslive2win
I agree. But I also think that can be said to a certain extent about most QBs -- until they do win.
Then you have the same knock that Allen and Jackson have -- they cannot win the crucial playoff game. Then when they do, they will say that they cannot win a SB.
It is so very hard to make the playoffs, let alone win.
But I think Vrabel has that whole team playing at a high level. We have seen before where they can carry a QB a bit.

What's not to like about Caleb, we are starting to see more playmaking abilities from him in the league that we saw at USC. And once that really starts happening then he will be talked about amongst some of the top qbs in the league.

I was too busy drinking and partying with friends. I'm from Chicago, huge Bears fan.
Maye is still better than him

The Bears o line is awesome this year. Their pass block win rate is 71%, 2nd best in the nfl.
The Patriots is 59%, 21st in the league.
You guys should watch some clips of the Bears RT Darnell Wright, he's putting people through the ground. Made Burns from the Giants look like a bug.

Jayden Daniels reminds me a lot of RGIII in their stick figure.... and they both played for the 'Skins, which is interesting..
RGIII ended up destroyed his knee , and I fear the same for Jayden due to his string- bean physique. His recent knee sprain is a wake-up call.

A lot of the success (or lack thereof) of a QB has to do with what's between the ears. How quickly can you as a QB process information and make the right decision ?
Sure it helps to have a decent offensive line, but all other things being equal among QBs, their ability to quickly process information is the key determinant to their success.

I forgot that I even made that post but here we are more than halfway through the season and Jayden has been hurt for a lot of it. The last one looked like he almost snapped his arm off. His career in the NFL may be short lived.
